I was at Folsom Lake Ford with a buddy to get our basketballs signed by Ron Artest.
He got there at about 11:30 a.m. and I arrived 30 minutes later because I went to buy the basketballs. Good thing I did too because I found out later there was a booth selling Artest jerseys and shirts along with basketballs. They charged $35 for a basketball while I got mine for $30 else where. I just couldn't believe they were selling Sharpies. Yes, Sharpies. The black Sharpie was $2 and the gold one was $3.
I also spoke to an older Asian male as he was the first in line. Any guesses as to when he showed up? The answer is below.
Slamson and two of the cheerleaders showed up too. One was the red head and another was blonde. Sorry, I do not know the names.
KHTK was there too and I cleaned them out. I won a Kings/Monarchs sports gym bag, a Kings dog tag, and a Kings Frisbee. I gave them all to my girlfriend and you'll see why below.
So, once we got inside to meet Artest it was so fast that if you blinked, it was done and over with. He had a little boy with him so I'm assuming it was his son. I just had a chance to say, "Thank you Ron."
After I said that, he looked up at me eye to eye and said, "You're welcome." I thought that was cool because he didn't have to, especially after signing for about 50 people in a span of 40 minutes.
I also got Jerry Reynolds to sign my book as my girlfriend drove to Roseville to meet him. She was the first person in line at 2:30 p.m. She told me she got to talk to him for a few minutes and Jerry even stood up to take a picture with her. He was all smiles and looked very happy to meet her. Monica also told me she loved meeting Jerry and glad she went. He also personalized our book and even put that she was the first in line. I really wanted to meet Jerry and talk to him but it's not often a player like Ron Artest makes a player appearance.
Okay, and now the answer to the question above. The older Asian male told me he arrived at Folsom Lake Ford at 5:30 a.m. That's a little too early for me to wake up but hey he was first in line.
Overall, it was a good day. Anyone else go to either event? How was your experience?
