This is an interesting piece I saw on a Jayhawks forum a little while ago, regarding Mclemore's agent and play in the summer league:
As someone that has watched a lot of McLemore’s college games, he is playing like a different player. Personally, I blame the **** people around him. Instead of staying in shape and keeping his skills up, he’s messed with his shot (he rarely tried step back jumpers at KU), and decided the secret to success is to push against his natural instinct to defer.
In no uncertain terms, he has the absolute worst personal circle I’ve seen from any KU prospect in the Bill Self era. His agent is a piece of ****, and not even in the “he’s a POS person, but really good at his job” sense, as he’s already cost McLemore at least $3 million, and probably much more. Instead of staying in shape in the offseason, he dragged McLemore down with his NCAA investigation, and he clearly was incapable of providing the type of quality facilities and trainers that an NBA player needs (first time agent).
Ben McLemore’s troubles, as far as I can see, go back to a single greedy little man: Rodney Blackstock. The man tricked and lied his way in McLemore’s heart when he was a kid growing up in poverty, and now he intends to ride McLemore to fame and fortune even if he ends up dragging McLemore down under his weight. Kings fans should really hope this guy ends up going to jail for illegal activities or gets in an unfortunate accident, or there is a very real chance he will continue screwing up McLemore’s career.
