Mavs / Heat Game 1 and predictions

I'm going with Mavs in 7 - seems like the national media is picking Miami to win. Understandably so...they have Shaq (6th finals apperance), GP (3rd finals appearance) and Riley. (9th finals appearance) Mavs are so inexperienced - I dunno how they'll react to the pressure. Don't forget the Mavs are still in rebuilding mode so I guess this is part of the learning process. And aside from the experience factor - Miami is just a badass team.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Mavs lose tonight - they've lost 6 of the last 7 Game 1's. What makes this year so diff. is Avery's adjustments after game 1. What a difference a coach can make!

On a side note - this city is going nuts. Celebrity sightings everywhere, Mavs gear on every car and they're selling Mavs gear everywhere in Dallas. I heard courtside seats for this evenings game were going for $24,000. True story.

Dallas: Not just a Cowboys town anymore...

Unfortunately I have to go to my cousin's graduation the same time the game is on and I won't get to watch it. I'll still tape it though. GO MAVS.

GO HHEEEAAATTTT!!!!!! I want Dallas to lose so bad its disturbing. I will never be able to bring myself to like Dirk. The things I want to say about Cuban are better off not being mentioned (ill get kicked off the board)...

God I'm sick of ABC's coverage of the NBA. Last year it was Beyonce, then Rob Thomas, now Tom Petty inserted in every highlight reel. Oh, and for some reason they always play music from the 60's and 70's? Nothing against those era's, but I'm not sure they belong in Basketball. ARGH! This is the reason I'm in Chapman's Film/TV school.

Maybe in 5 years we'll be commenting about the Ryan films being shown during the playoffs? I know I'd sure like to see some of your tribute stuff get the credit it deserves.

Ya do good, kid.

haha, thanks. I think it's a bid sad though that a large reason I want to work for ABC is due to the fact that I'm sick of their coverage. It's like when my friends wanted to get Kings tickets simply because they didn't want to watch Bill Walton on NBC. Blah. I miss the NBA on NBC.

well, hopefully the heat can take game 2 then head back to miami. they were very close in this one until mid fourth quarter. i will be sick if dallas gets a ring. i would pay good money to see cuban, dirk and terry cry.

Congrats mavsman!

Wow..and I thought Shaq sucked at freethrows in LA!! Set a new record tonight...worst FT% by a team in a finals game. Congrats Miami!

Thx Hoopsfan - I was shocked about just how many FT's Shaq missed. More shocking is that only Wade and O'Neal even attempted the FT's and no one else on the team did.

I feel kinda good about this win. I mean, the Mavs played soooo badly tonight I thought for sure the Heat were going to win. Then I remembered this Mavs squad plays defense. And we have Jason Terry.

Mavs played poorly in the first quarter, and never did get solid offensive performances from Dirk or Josh Howard, and still won. Heat have to think they let one slip through their fingers in Game 1.

Or, the Heat may think that someone helped shoot them out of a chance. Antoine Walker hit his first two threes in the first quarter and at the beginning of the second, then proceeded to make one of his next 7, as well as making only 4 of his 10 shots from inside the arc. 17 points...ok, but on 19 shots (8 more shots than Shaq took), coupled with 6 turnovers to 4 assists. If Jason Terry wouldn't have come up so large, Walker would have been the Mavs MVP for this game.

I hate when teams lose games they should have won. This is one of those situations but it's only 1 game, I'm still hoping. The Heat role players were pretty ineffective and that was the difference in the Pistons series.

couldn't agree more. I was encouraging Walker to shoot all game long.

But if they should have won...they would have. No?
