SACRAMENTO, California (Ticker) - The Sacramento Kings on Tuesday placed backup guard Maurice Evans on the injured list with a strained right groin.

Evans, 26, is averaging 6.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 27 games, including three starts, this season. He scored a career-high 16 points in a 105-98 victory over the New York Knicks on January 4.

Prior to this season, Evans had not played in the NBA since averaging 2.1 points in 10 games with the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2001-02 campaign.

To replace Evans on the roster, the Kings activated rookie forward Erik Daniels, who had missed the last seven games with a sore lower back. Daniels is averaging 0.7 points and 1.1 rebounds in nine games this season.
