Marcus attended the draft party with his mom who took her first plane fight in 61 years? lol!

she added she looks forward to seeing "her baby play here next season"

Marcus also answered "affirmative" when asked if he'd be back...

all great signs... although unofficial it looks official... ha

for all those upset with our current 7 pick... remember adding Marcus is way better than if we had won this lotto this year... we have a legit, and clutch player

Nice selective quotation. I'll post it in full:

Thornton is a restricted free agent so I had to ask him if his appearance meant he planned to be a King next season. After a brief pause Thornton answered in the affirmative.

"Yeah...Yeah man," Thornton said. "These fans are great. I fit in so well with this team it would be great to play here but the summer is the summer."

Reason to be optimistic? Sure. Sure bet? Hardly.

going to the draft party? thats a pretty strong indicator... really no other reason to be there if hes not coming back... i'd have to think hes the #1 priority this off season

OP: The style in which you write posts puts me on life tilt. That is all.

Its hardly guarenteed he'll be back. He clearly is happy here and would want to stay but that doesnt mean its certain. If theres other teams willing to pay more then hed obviously look into that.

$$$ talks.

He wants to be back, thats great. But if some fool team offers him more than Petrie feels safe matching... Later Thornton.

Keep in mind that he's a restricted free agent with a qualifying offer of just a touch over $1M. That means all we have to do is offer him a 1 year, $1M contract (trust me, we will) and then both we and other teams are free to negotiate with him. If he likes the offer another team makes him, he signs a contract known as an offer sheet, and we have the option to match that contract and keep him. Whether Thornton leaves is entirely in our hands, but we do have to be willing to pay him the same amount as whoever else makes the highest offer.

Barring something insane, its hard to see us not. And its hard to imagine anybody going insane for him after only a couple of months.

I worry more about Daly. The Heat may go on to win a title here just on the original Wade/James conceit, but when you watch the Bulls (#1 in the elague in rebounding) pound the crap out of them on the boards, its hard to miss how absolutely perfect a complimentarry guy Dalembert would be there to give them that interior rebounder/defender they've been searching for all year with washed up guys. If something like the MLE survives this CBA and Miami offers it to Daly...it concerns me, because it will all come down to values. Should be noted too how close Miami is to his native Haiti. Would be a helluva blow to a young team finaly getting an interior presence and in the very year when a major step forward defensively is needed to take that next step, to have that guy pulled out from underneath them.
