So we pulled our offer because he had already signed with Houston? I don't believe the Maloofs, do you? There is no logic in what you said except that is the way I remember the story also. How can you "pull an offer" on someone who has already signed elsewhere? It is more like he pulled the offer by making a choice.
FAs don't want to come here. The way our franchise is evolving , or is it devolving, it's not going to be any better. We have a franchise in chaos and there is no ray of hope that I can see. This is not the time to cavalierly let people walk, like JT, when no one else is walking our way. Pretty soon we will have no team except a huge collection of 2nd rounders.
Whatever happened with Daly, we don't have him and I think suffered mightily. If we don't have him because bigs are overvalued, get used to it. Since the beginning of the NBA, bigs have commanded salaries that are high and for good reason. It's not that they are overvalued. They are necessary. For $10 mil you can get a decent big but a spectacular SG. Should we only sign SGs because they are not "overvalued."
The shame of our situation is that it is necessary to overpay, which has a negative connotation to it, or we will never overcome our horrible reputation and dig ourselves out of the cellar. The shame is that we have owners who cannot "overpay."
Our problem is not the mystery of what happened to Daly or Tyreke's jumpshot. We can discuss them until the cows come home but in the end, with flat arse broke owners who are lying slime balls, we are going nowhere. Discuss the details because it's fun but let's not kid ourselves, it would be the very rare person who would volunatrily want to play for the Kings. Remember Cuz, in his adolescent burst of self rightiousness who promised to stay here and dig us out of the cellar? He will get older and that burst of enthusiasm may die. Let's take advantage of what we have and keep him happy. At this point, barring a top 3 pick, I don't see us going anywhere.
OK, now I must have conveyed the same idea three times in one note and I have said this before. I just can't keep posting and ignore the reality that posting is just to keep our basketball knowledge chops in complete functioning order and little else. Forums are just a mental exercise anyway but this one just by nature of the situation is so far away from anything possible than most. I wish there was something we could do to get this team sold. A petition to the NBA? What? This forum is read by the Kings FO. I need to think about this as, like bajaden, my feelings about this team and discussing it are dying. I just don't have phenomenal interest in college basketball to fall back on.
Maybe I'll go back to stamp collecting and that's not a joke. My jealousy of bajaden is huge.

Damn it folks, can we use this forum to push the NBA into nudging the Maloofs into selling? Can we also use it to encourage guys like JT to stay? Better put, can we encourage our franchise not to let JT walk? Can we do something useful? We have brains here, we have the typical Sacto enthusiasm, and we have an expereince where we have learned that a few highly energetic people can work miracles. The fans, with a great mayor, essentially got an arena built where there had been multiple failures until the Maloofs pulled the plug.
We need to hold on to Cuz, JT, Tyreke, and a few others perhaps just be letting other players know this is a decent place to play. As to the sale of the team, why not a well written petition signed by everyone we can corral addressed to the NBA? Somehow we, and I really do mean "WE," need to see if there is anything we can do to encourage the NBA to find an excuse, any excuse, to get rid of the Maloofs. Aren't they truly, logically, without scapegoating, the root evil to this franchise? We don't even have to paint them as bad people. We CAN paint them as poor people egotistically hanging on to a dream and as they sink in fulfilling their dream, they are dragging an entire metropolitan area and a few outliers down with them.
Without distortion, I think it can be safely said that an ownership of one business is having a negative impact on an entire area if only by ruining it's chances to build an arena downtown and advance to the 21st century. This is the way I see it.
