Luka a Laker

when healthy,
The Lakers starting lineup is currently
Maxi/Hayes
Rui/DFS
LeBron/Reddish
Reaves/Knecht
Luka/Gabe Vincent/Shake Milton/Bronny

the Mavs are at
Lively/Gafford
AD/OMax
PJ (not sure if he’s really capable of sticking at wing full time though)/Naji
Klay/Grimes
Kyrie/Dinwiddie/Hardy

In the short term at least both of these teams may have made themselves worse

Lakers will most certainly make another deal or two. I’m sure they’ll find a way to flip Reaves and some 2nds for Bam Adebayo smh

The Lakers will follow up this move. They desperately need a center. And given the rest of the league's insistence on doing the Lakers as many solids as possible, I'm sure they'll dig up a starting-caliber center somewhere for pennies.

The Mavs... I just don't understand what they're doing. They're built on such an astoundingly flimsy foundation. Any two of AD/Kyrie/Klay could be injured by tomorrow morning. If they don't win a championship this season or next, this trade is just an all-timer of an awful deal.

I still don't get it. Tired of his conditioning issues? Even with those issues and his poor defense, Luka is still a perennial MVP candidate! And if you want to move on from him and make his conditioning issues somebody else's problem, then you extract maximum value for doing so! You don't call up just one team--the f***ing Lakers, a conference rival--and hand them the keys to contention for the next 5-10 years. Even if you only want to deal with the Lakers for some asinine reason, they had two first rounders that were available for trade! And you should be adding some swaps on top of that! I'm gobsmacked by the sheer incompetence on display here.

Man, that article makes Nico Harrison sound like an idiot:

The Dallas Morning News said:
How, when and why did this megadeal come to fruition?
Harrison cited his two-decade relationship with Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka, starting when Harrison was a Nike executive and Pelinka was a player agent.
Harrison told The News that he and Pelinka began having “basketball” conversations more than a month ago.
“Then all of a sudden we’re like, ‘Would you ever do this?’
‘Nah, you’re joking, right?’
‘Hmm. Interesting. Maybe I would.’

Added Harrison: “And then it just built over time over the last three weeks.”
Seriously? You punted on a generational 25-year-old talent and sent him to the f***ing Lakers because of a two-decade relationship with Pelinka? That's why you didn't bother to call anyone else or explore anything resembling getting maximum value for an MVP candidate who has barely scratched the surface of his prime? Because you know the guy?!
