ANY QUESTIONS?

Ok, I have one...

Sac Kings All-Time Defensive 5:

Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
Doug Christie
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute
Mitch Richmond
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute

Kings Defensive MVP: Luc (only one who can guard at least 4 positions)

Slow down, shipmate. Mbah a Moute is very impressive on defense, I'll grant you, but I'm not prepared to say he's the best defender we've had. Can't forget about Metta World War and, in his prime, Christie was the Terminator on defense.

the guy understands the nuances of defensive positioning and skill. That is for sure..and it's clear now that we see him healthy. Malone and the crew knew full well what he is good at. He rarely hurts the team and usually is very valuable with all the 'dirty work'.

An ideal player to fit in with the 'culture' change

I know I was a little giddy:) Recall how Michael Jordan said Mitch Richmond was toughest defender he ever faced - except for Scottie Pippen in practice! So probably Mitch was best defender ever in Sac or maybe Doug Christie. Artest seemed like fleeting defender in Sac with all the shenanigans but no doubt a serious lock-down D presence. Luc has always had big-time lock-down rep even going back to his days at UCLA and now showing it with the Kings.

Been raving about this guy since we got him. He's healthy which has done him wonders.

There are several quotes out there from guys like Durant/Kobe/Melo/Bron saying how tough of a defender Mbah is and that's he's one of the best in the NBA. I really think he'd have an all-defensive team by now if he wasn't lost in the media death-zone of Milwaukee.

Coach Malone gushed about Luc tonight in his post game presser. Mentioned him right away at beginning and again near the end. "Holding Green to 3 pts. in second half" - etc.

Keon Clark would like to have a word with you
LOLWUT?

Clark was a great weak side shot blocker, but he wasn't on the same level as Rock, DC, Artest or Mbah a Moute defensively. Hell, I'd put him behind Grant and Prime Pollard as well. And maybe even Fundy, who was seriously underrated on defense.

I really like Mbah a Moute's defensive intensity: I'm worried about what might happen to his role in the rotation if we actually do get one of those vaunted freshmen.

He can always be a go to defensive stopper, regardless of whether he is best at the time as a starter or not. Since he can gaurd multiple positions, his value is very high. They'll put him on a hot shooting gaurd one night, then a post forward the next. There's only a few guys around who can do that effectively and want to do it.. and we have one of them.

At "worst", he could end up being a valuable 6th/7th man

Luc's stat line tonight: 28 mins. PTS: 11 FG: 4-5 FT: 3-3 RB: 2 AST: 3 STL: 1 BLK: 2 TO: 1 PF: 1

That's really rather typical Luc or at least what he's capable with around 25-30 mins, which surely he should get going forward this season - especially now at 100% healthy. But in the end it will mostly be about his lock-down defensive presence as it should be.

Let's just say he has had a helluva two game streak. If he's still shining at season's end I' name my 5th born after him. It was really enjoyable to watch him tonight.

If we get parker it will be Malones wet dream. We could go small with parker at the 4 and Luc at 3 parker is 6'8-235 with a 7ft wing span. Our small line up would be great.

He's a solid cog on the offensive end as well. Pretty much the definition of a glue guy and always has been. Was a role player in college and slid right into a similar role in the pros. Most college role players end up doing whatever communication majors do, yet Luc right from the start knew what made his game work.

Wow, I finally came into this thread...and almost choked before I got past the first post. :p

Let's just leave it at he's obviously the best we have on the team right now, and that tonight we finally got to see some of what we acquired him for. Obviously a much more stable, and hence playable, option than the similar James Johnson attempt the year before.

All time Kings list BTW would probably be:

C- Dalembert?
PF- Clark? Pollard? Grant?
SF- Ron Artest
SG- Doug Christie
PG-Randy Brown

To my mind, the keepers on this team are Cousins, IT, McLemore, and The Prince. His defense is excellent, he's a high BBIQ and character guy, and his offense is underated. The only question I have is his health, and from the look of him, he's 100%. It makes a big positive difference in this lineup to have the uber-athletic McLemore at the 2 and the long athletic Prince at the 3.
