Local Media

I am sorry but the local media has gotten to the point were I do exercise my right and no longer listen to or read. These fools are putting more gas on the fire and I can no longer take it.

Just had to vent that out. I feel better now.

I was so PO'd this morning at the rise guys for making a big deal about AV's article and then expanding on it more. Worse off fans were calling in to agree and blamming Peja or Webb for every problem we have.

Just kinda tired of it all let the team play. There will be up's and down's in a season and obviously these "HOME TOWN EXPERTS" don't have a clue that it happens.

Don't know what happened to the rise guys either. They used to be pretty cool when the Kings were just starting to rise to the elite teams. Now everything the team does is bad.

I grew up with the Rise Guys. They've been together in various forms since 1991 at KRXQ. The Album Rock Station. But they are getting on my nerves. I wanted to pay a visit to Madison and Hemlock yesterday morning. They were driving me nuts with the Webb & Peja bashing. By listening to then yesterday youd think that Webb was making the same mistakes he was making 3-4 years ago. They kept mentioning how Webb was holding the ball too long and taking too many shots... I wanted to go and choke them.... Joking off course... Or am i?!

I think people on this board are a little oversensitive about certain topics. In this town the Kings are IT! So, there is going to be some overanalysis.

However, I think it's fair to question certain things about the team. For example, the ball seems to move better when Webber is not in the game. That does not mean the Kings are a better team without Webber. I think it's just an objective fact based on watching the team last year before Webb returned and this year when he has not played.

Being critical does not equal BASHING or player hating.

It sure wasn't moving too well on Sunday. The ONLY assist the starters got in the whole game came before Webb went out.
I think some of the guys up their individual effort when Webb isn't out there, feeling they must step up to fill the void. I would prefer that they feel they must step up no matter if Webb is there or not.

Ok for those of us who didn't hear the rise guys this morning, were they bashing both webber and peja? or bashing one more than the other and doing the whole peja vs chris thing. this is one thing I don't miss about being away from Sac. The media there blows everything out of porportion and talks every topic to death.

A lot of times the media plays devils advocate because it will get a Rise out of you Guys. Seriously, if people talk about it either negatively or positively then they've done their job. They aren't cheerleaders. They're the media.

I def. agree. But I gotta say that after reading AV's articles online (along with the rest of the SacBee crew) I have come to the conclusion that the Kings have the worst local media treatment in the nation.

Fire AV - the world will be a better place.

First of all last year doesn't matter(Webb was obviously still hurting big time), but as for this year... The ball moved the best all year in the Cavaliers game. Webb played 35 min and he even dominated the ball shooting 24 shots(he made 12). That game was the best we moved the ball all year 34 assists 7 TOs. How do you explain that? The other funny thing is that when Webber has been out this year it's been against the Dregs of the league, of course we move the ball better! I listen to the rise guys and to be fair I think they are a little better this year, It's the callers that really bug me. Mike Lamb has got to be the worst though he really pisses me off.

I agree with your point. I think the Kings are a MUCH better team with Webber, and I completely support him. I think he is an incredible player. Sometimes, however, when Webb is in the game and specifically when he has the ball it seems like the other players stop moving around and trying to get open & just watch to see what he's going to do. If noone bothers to get open, he doesn't have many options & there isn't much ball movement. That frusterates me because it's an issue that gets blamed on Webb even though it is completely out of his control. It is really a coaching issue in my eyes, because I don't even know if the players realize that they do it!

Bump. Man are you guys listening to the postgame tonight on the radio? Its not the hosts, but the callers are so negative. You would think the could realize that Houston was on a win streak and this was a back to back on the road without Peja. I can barely listen. The ESPN broadcast was more positive!

I wont listen to the local shows anymore and I am not being sensitive its just not good radio. If I want to listen to someone complain right now I would wake up my wife HAHAHAH J/K HONEY! LOL

And perhaps it is the collective Kings "fan" base, once the reputed best fans in the NBA and now swirling around the ceramic bowl, that is further fueling the Poison Pens, Rise Guys, etc.

I can barely stand to be in Arco sometimes.

Only major team in town, everyone wants a championship so bad, everything and anything gets looked at under a microscope 100X more then lets say GState.

Hmm.. I personally think the Bay Area hosts are a bunch of twits. They are much worse then te Sac area ones. Id take the sac ones everyday.... They atleast know a lil bit about sports..
