MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- An Arkansas man filed a federal lawsuit against NBA star Kobe Bryant claiming the Lakers guard deliberately elbowed him during a game last year against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Bill Geeslin was a spectator in the stands Nov. 14 when the Lakers played the Grizzlies in Memphis. His three-page lawsuit filed Tuesday claims that Bryant came off the court during play, landed on Geeslin and "without provocation" committed assault and battery when he violently struck Geeslin with his elbow.
Geeslin claims seeks more than $75,000 in damages for unspecified injuries that required medical attention.
Geeslin's attorney, Robert Coleman, declined to elaborate on the filing Wednesday but said he had not been in contact with Bryant's attorneys or agent.
A call to Bryant's agent seeking comment was not immediately returned.
The game ended with the Grizzlies winning 85-73.

And they won't let me sue Hedo for causing me emotional damage because I am forced to look at him during telecasts.

Here's Kobe leaving the court and singling this guy out for the elbow. Click on the link that says "KOBE VIDEO" (at the top of the article). It's in WM format. A commercial precedes the vid.

I don't see anything wrong with what Kobe did there. THe whole point of havin courtside seats is so you can be in the middle of the action.

Now MIke Bibby's nose is another story...

I am no Kobe fan - but give me a freak'n break. I have had worse standing in line at the grocery store.

If it was any otehr palyer on the planet... oh heck who am I kidding your right it's pathetic. The guy is a both opertunisic AND whimp.

What things people will do just to earn that cash... Pathetic.

I'm sure the guy knows it's not going to pass muster. He probably wants his name in the paper. Kobe is the one who loses because he has to pay lawyer fees over a tort case and he can't recover them. True, he's filthy rich, but the same thing applies to Joe Blow.

This should raise Stern's eyebrows if he's paying attention. I've seen front row fans fall over in their unbolted chairs and hit their heads. Then again, a girl got hit in the temple with a puck at an NHL game in 2002 and she died. I guess those warnings on the back of your ticket are pretty iron clad noting that the NHL hasn't been sued for all it's worth by now.
