This isn't exactly about Larry Ellison except it IS about something in sports that he is financing. Makes you wonder if there is a clean sport active in this entire world. I wonder if this could hurt his chance of getting an NBA team.

"In what has been described as the harshest penalties in the 162-year history of America’s Cup, Oracle Team USA has been docked two points before the 2013 regatta even begins, a key sailor and two shore crewmen have been expelled and the team was fined $250,000 after a four-week cheating investigation by an international jury.

The jury found that Larry Ellison’s Oracle team made illegal modifications to prototype boats used in America’s Cup World Series warm-up regattas ..... "

In Silicon Valley both Larry Ellison and Bill Gates (via Redmond, WA) were for several decades the two most despised big time tech operators because of their cut throat ruthlessness. Some of it may have been envy but Ellison especially has always been so incredibly arrogant and full of himself. A lot of people (including bunch of ex-wives) can't stand to be in the same room with him, which was the case around NBA owners and David Stern - apparently. I thought he was mellowing a bit as he neared 70 and maybe like Gates was thinking of easy going retirement, philanthropy, taking it slower on his private island in Hawaii or at any one of his many mega mansions all over the place. Apparently not.
