Lakers vs. Jazz (11/30) [Kobe vs. Jazz]

Oh my.

You might want to think about reconsidering that statement. Gargamel is not only a long-time KNOWLEDGEABLE Lakers fan, he is a virtual encyclopedia of information about Kobe.

I'm gonna drop 52 on him next time I see him. ;)

I'm going to the game "at" LAC tonite. Hopefully he displays that all-time 3pt stroke.

OK, now that always annoyed me. Lakers and Clips always get 2 more "home" games than any other team in the NBA. That's just not right. Then, I think it was PJ a few years ago that popped off with some comment about the Kings and their good home record and lackluster road record about how "you have to do it on the road, too", or some such.

I just got back from Staples. The arena was at least 50/50 in the breakdown of the fans. The Lakers fans were much louder during big moments.

It's not necessarily the crowd, but the home arena ("home" locker room, rims, no travel, etc).

They use different basket stands (one's white and the other's yellow) and there are 3 lockerooms at Staples. One big one for LAL, a medium one for LAC, and a small one for every other team.

In all honesty, the Sports Arena was not that far away from the Forum. Staples and the Sports Arena are both on Figueroa.

uh do you even watch laker games?... i hate the guy but he might be the best 3 point shooter ever

No way... Even Michael Jordan wasn't a great three point shooter. He was just really good at making them when it was important. The very same thing could be said about Kobe Bryant.

Fred Hoiberg is a great three point shooter, Kobe Bryant is a clutch 3 point shooter. There's a difference.

Kobe looked old. He didn't look defined. The muscles around his upperback and shoulders looked unsculpted... his legs looks skinner due to the fact that his upperbody is bulkier. The new number 24 probably doesn't help either. The numbers are taking up more space therefore he looks wider.

-- example of extreme Kobe fanboy infatuation

I just noticed your signature, Gargy. It almost looks like something Ailene Voisin could have written.

;)

Peja had his own fanboys, but not nearly as infatuated as Kobe's. That's one thing that Kobe does share w/ Jordan -- a troupe of superfans who fricken analyze him to the most minute detail. I remember a thread where a few fans were saying that they didn't like him wearing floppy socks. Then there's the yearly, "Kobe is buff" threads w/ pictures of his arms. I remember making a similar thread here years ago as a joke and I was cracking up at the disgusted responses from you guys. Stuff like, "Thanks for the report on Kobe's arms. Pfft..."

Woohoo, the stands are a different color! ;)

Ok, so at least they have the same locker rooms and familiar rims, and still no travel.

No, no. I meant that they don't use the same rims (which is proven by the different colors of the basket stands).

wow i watch like every game kobe plays in... he shoots the smoothest 3 i've ever seen and he makes it more than anyone else that i've seen... and hes not some spot up loser that stands at the 3 point line all day ala hoiberg.

He has a career average of 33.6% and has never hit the 40% plateau in a season. Compare that with Peja and Miller who both average 39% for their careers and has had numerous seasons shooting above 40%.

i dont care about percentages... he still makes like almost every one... ive seen him on multiple occasions hit like 5 or 6 in a row... and maybe percentage wise its down cause he takes all those "force it up cause its the end of the quarter or end of the shotclock" 3's and many of those are misses... anyways all im saying is his form and accuracy is unbelievable and this is coming from maybe one of the biggest kobe haters out there

Sure... but he misses like the next twelve shots from beyond the arc.

No one is saying he isn't capable of hitting 5 or 6 in a row. When he gets in a zone (like many players) he just can't seem to miss. But, his 3 pt shooting percentage is not that high compared to the really great all time 3 pt shooters.

Is he good? Heck yeah! I was only saying that he is nowhere near the "best ever."

See, guys? He's even better than I've been telling you! He misses 7 out of every 10 throughout his career and yet he still makes like almost every one.

Give this argument up. He's a streak shooter from behind the arc. He's not Steve Kerr.

Man, what's with those Los Angelinos? ;)
