KZ, Chima, Delly officially make the team (via Woj)

I dont see the delly over cook rationale... Glad for KZ and Chima. They have the DAWG in them and are given their length and speed, can basically guard 1-4.

I'm glad they went with Dellavedova, the Kings don't have another PG like him on the roster. Cook essentially plays just like the two combo guards the Kings have in Fox/Davion already. Delly is probably the first pass first system PG the Kings have had since Rondo.

Kind of cool that the internet chatter today was Metu vs. Merrill. In other words, the final cut came down to an underdog fan favorite that averaged over 21 mpg last season that many thought might see an expanded role with Coach Brown and an undrafted free agent.

I didn’t either at first, but comments from Coach Brown and Davion bring things into focus:

From KingsHerald.com (Brenden Nunes)
"I believe our practices are harder than our games because that’s how hard we’re trying to push each other and you get guys like Dellavedova. He doesn’t know any other way than to go hard. And so what that means is, if Davion ain’t going hard he will get embarrassed by Delly. If Foxy ain’t going hard, he will get embarrassed by Delly. And so to have a guy like that on your team with your group just raises the level of intensity all the time and then he’s like a coach on the bench," Coach Brown said. "To have him and other guys that push guys in front of them but they’re still all-in and they’re encouraging their teammates and all that other stuff, but yet when their number is called they’re ready to go. To me, it’s a perfect recipe for us to be better defensively.”

Davion also weighed in on the intensity that the Aussie brings every single day. "Delly’s a vet. I’ve learned a lot of things from him, he’s a really smart player. He can get anywhere on the floor. He makes his teammates better. He gives me pointers all the time, even throughout the game. So, he makes me a lot better," Mitchell said. "Defensively, I try to speed him up, but he’s seen it all so I can’t really speed him up a little bit so it makes it hard for me… I think he definitely helped us out a lot as well."

This is the kinda stuff that warms my heart. And no drama currently surrounding the franchise? Just wonderful.

Same, and I love how they go out of their way to be complimentary whenever a question is asked about another player. I know a lot of that is good media coaching, but they seem to have a genuine appreciation of their teammates and situation. Egos are being self-checked in an environment where competition is high.
