Kwame Brown

For being a number 1 pick, he is already a bust. But he's young (27), tall and a pretty good presence defensively. I think he'll fill in pretty well as our backup C. He's an ender at Detroit at 4M. Detroit is retooling and maybe willing to trade some more players.

However, I can't think of a possible straight trade that would push through as of now. Detroit is still down to 8 players at this time. Once they fill up a few more roster spots, I hope Petrie starts to deal with them.

Not sure how a trade with Detroit would go down... here is what works, numbers wise:

Beno + Garcia for Kwame, Maxiell, and Stuckey

Nocioni + Kenny for Kwame and Prince

Greene + Udrih for Wilcox and Kwame

Maxiell + Kwame for Kenny Thomas

Thing is, I am not too sure about Maxiell and he has this coming season, plus three more on his contract...

HELL NO!!! Bringing in a lazy, low bball IQ, poor work ethic guy into the locker room to mingle among the kids is absolutely a disaster. Kwame Brown will teach JT/Hawes that, being big men, they don't have to work very hard to make millions and how to get by with physical attributes alone.

And then Brown will brag about his adventures at the Playboy Mansion, and the next thing you know, all the youngsters are dreaming of leaving Sactown to sign with the Lakers.

lol all of those trade scenarios are lopsided in the Kings favor. Basically we send detroit crap and they send us atleast one decent player.

I disagree. Greene and udrih for Kwame and Wilcox is lopsided for us???? Or kenny thomas, our largest trade asset this year for Kwame and Maxiell... Err. Jason Maxiell isn't exactly a star, and I don't think you need me to get started on Kwame. We should be using KT as trade bait to package with say Udrih or Noc to trade for young guys with potential.

Kwame is underrated.

He can rebound and defend. Thats what you ask your bigs to do. Not all #1 picks will end up to be stars, critics needs to get over it. I really haven't seen anything from Bynum to even say he is better than Brown up to this point. When Brown was starting with the lakers, he was a very near double double guy every night. Bynum hasn't even shown he can avoid picking up 5 fouls in 15 mins. But everyone calls Bynum the next great thing and clowns Kwame every chance they get.

If we can get Kwame, that would be a very very solid backup big.

he would be a nice 3rd big to have but its not gonna happen. we dont have anyone to trade to detroit, brown doesnt make enough money. we would probably need a third team to send some pieces to detroit.

I agree with you that Kwame's morphing himself into a rebounder/defender of sorts, and he can be semi-useful on a team that has tons of offensive options and allows him to fade into the limelight on the offensive end. But there's just a lot of embarassing stuff he does out there--stone hands, easily stripped, just chucks the ball up there with little touch even on layups, and his weak psyche just magnifies the issues. Defensively he can rotate and positionally defend, but he's not the shotblocker I would really want. Lump this together with work ethic/injury issues and I really don't think he's worth the time at all. His only value is as an expiring contract, hopefully lumped with a more talented player like Maxiell or something.

Hell No Dude! I Pass On This Possibility!

he's still in the league?!

Seriously.

Why when we're just about to rid ourselves of Kenny Thomas are we even discussing guys like Kwame Brown, Robert Swift and Adonal Foyle?!

Really, what is going on here.

THESE GUYS ARE FLAT OUT TERRIBLE!

Kwame Brown?.. really? Kwame ****ing Brown? lol

People want a big, but there really isn't much to choose from. "Let's get him - he's tall."

How the hell would kwame freaking brown bring anything positive to this or any team. Every team he's been on has tried to get rid of him. Its rediculous how little he has improved. He's prectically the same player at 27 that he was as a high school senior.

Uhhh, I would like to point out that I suggested Swift. Only because he's young, for one year, and cheap. I would not be interested in Brown for all of the reasons stated above. Foyle would be fine for one year, but only for the league minimum. I would still be interested in Ryan Hollins, or try, perhaps to pry Robin Lopez away from the Suns.

Yeah those players would be fine if we're signing them for a 1 yr min deal. But to trade away our biggest trade asset for garbage that doesn't go away after this year doesn't make sense to me.

Just dropping in on this thread to chime in:

1. This isn't worth doing, even if we were a contender.
2. We're not a contender, so adding a 27 year old 'bust' isn't going to help our team mature for the future.
3. Add those together, and the answer is:

OMG NO!!!!

If the salaries were comparable, I'd rather have any of those guys than May. They're all a better fit for what the Kings need and have the same or less injury concerns (except Swift). At some point, despite what Jerry Reynolds believes, we are going to have to address our shot blocking/big man deficiencies.

I'm totally down for it if :

Petrie can somehow morph into Mitch Kupcake and convince some gm who owes a favor to Jerry West to trade their all star big man for him.

Well your sort of mixing apples and oranges. May is a PF, and I believe were discussing a backup center now. If were discussing a short term fix, just to have a backup for a year, then I'm not really that picky. Were not going to be contenders anyway. But I don't think you have to trade anyone to accomplish that. Just sign any of the usual suspects for the league minimum.

Now if we can make that someone, a young someone that maybe just needs a change of scenery, thats an extra bonus. If were going to make a trade for said player, then go after a young center thats still in the development stage. Such as Fesenko, or a Robin Lopez. Not some player who has probably already established his ceiling. My gut tells me there's going to be a trade before camp begins. Of course my gut told me the Pat's were going to beat the Giants. :o
