KingsFans NFL Pick 'em

OK good. I was coming to bump this and remind that the picks must be in by Thursday's Mia-Pit game.

Question? I joined the fantasy pickem league and do you have to pick the game right according to the point spread? Like I picked Arizona to win but it says I got it incorrect. Is that because they only won by 7 and the spread was 7 and a half?

Yes ... and yes.

Don't feel like the lone stranger, D-Mass. I'm reasonably sure you did better than VF21 Devils. I think they must have over-slept or something.

;)

Also a note for those that forgot to pick or didn't realize the games have a point spread: During the season it's set up so that your lowest score is thrown out. So if you didn't pick or forgot the spread, your low score is thrown out of the standings.

Okay, since some missed their chance to pick anyway, I am in. You get to guess who I am, since I already forgot.:o :p

P.S. If I don't end up in last place, then something is wrong. I have not watched a whole lot of football in recent years. :p

Okay, I have made my first picks. Looks like I am the first to pick this week, so don't everybody copy mine. Okay? ;) :p

Love ya, 6th but just an FYI picks of others are not disclosed until the start of that weeks games or deadline. :) Good luck, sixth.

So, nebs, you mean the line I see for my picks cannot be seen by the rest of you? Whew! I was sure someone would like my picks. :D

Is anyone going to seriously compete with me in this league?

Maybe I should write a tip column for pick em' or something. I'll have to see if Yahoo is hiring. LOL.

Just kidding, 2 weeks does not a champion make. First 2 weeks look pretty good so far though.

You know, this is a side to penguins I didn't know existed. I never realized they could be so smug and so ... well, obnoxious. It makes me want to smack you with a trout.

Kinda...

Baltimore, Atlanta, New Orleans, the Washington/Houston Push, and the Jax/Indy push teamed up to serve me some humble pie this week. Who knew?

I took a gamble on SF, and no one thought Tom Brady would lose at home. Terrible week for my team. I still got the overall lead though.

I'm doing way better in the public pick 'em league. The spread isn't factored in that one though.

Don't forget to get your picks in before tomorrow morning...

By the way, if you picked the underdog every time every week this year, you'd be winning our league right now. :D

To continue the mini-conversation from the comments in the league...

Maybe someone can explain to me if I'm wrong, but no matter what the spread is, if you blindly picked one team or the other for every game, you would get half of your picks correct on average, right?

There have been 175 games so far that have not been pushes against the spread. If you picked the winner against the spread at random, on average you would have 87.5 correct picks. In our league, only one person has that many or more (in the total section, since that includes all weeks). That's pretty crazy.

My conclusion is that we all suck. I can't think of any other explanation. :)

Well I suppose no spreads is probably easier and attracts more attention for the casual fans. So... we'll go with no spread next year. Yes?

I'm ok with that. Even if you know a bit about the two teams playing, choosing against the spread is still a coin flip. It might be more fun to test your football knowledge by picking winners.

I'll be happier without the spreads. Of course, remembering to get my picks in each week might help, too.

:p

Thursday games really screwing things up. I totally forgot this week. Oh well.

This spread thing is tough! Underdogs are winning outright all the time, Road favorites aren't covering, etc, etc.
