Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, GM Pete D'Alessandro, coach Michael Malone met with Tyreke Evans in LA & stressed how much they want him.

No clarity on whether they'd match offer from New Orleans, but Evans left encouraged by the message that was sent. He likes it in Sacto.

Not sure who you mean? I only said that the only way I would want Evans at PG is if he had another ball handler at SF, which would be Iggy. Whether we could afford them both I have no idea.
Ya but who else is out there? The chances of having both is very slim.

Tyreke Evans will meet w/ Atlanta tomorrow. Still had New Orleans offer on table. Met w/ Kings and Detroit today

Can we all at least agree on one thing? Swapping Tyreke for Eric Gordon's contract is a laughably bad idea and New Orleans is fooling themselves if they think that's even remotely plausible. Surely we can all agree on that right?
Yes. Eric Gordon is MAYBE worth $10mil if he didn't have any chronic injury concerns.

Note: There's a pretty circular discussion going on about Evans, the SF position, his potential value, etc. in the other thread. I started this one as a place to post the latest tweets, etc. so people wanting the bare bones stuff won't have to wade through some very interesting yet very long discussions.

:)
Thought this was the new thread and that one was closing due to length since that's whats been done in the past.

Hearing New Orleans offer to Tyreke Evans is constructed to discourage Kings from matching.
Seeing the tweets of Jones as opposed to Amick is interesting in and of itself. Almost like they're reporting on two different situations.

I am missing your point then.
If Kings think that Reke is their franchise guy, they will and should pay the money.
At the moment, nobody on the roster is even close to that, and, I will repeat again, what other franchise/potential franchise guy you think Kings can get for less than 12 mil?
That is not tied to whether he is a pure PG, SG, SF or whatever unnecessary labeling is used on him. I think you are overvaluing defined position a bit.

edit: actually, reread your post, we seems to agree on the point but disagree regarding Reke's level
Here's the point none of you, except like 2 people are getting.

If our FO believes in Reke for the future, great. Pay the man and let's move forward with building around Reke-Cousins. If we DON'T think he can play PG then we should be looking to get something in return for him in a S&T. Keeping him because he's talented his an atrocious way to approach building a team.

I'll put my faith in the FO. I personally don't believe in Reke at PG at $12mil a year, but am willing to be proven wrong

What does this mean? They have Jru holiday, Eric Gordon, and Greivis Vasquez. Seems like they have no position for Evans. Jason Jones thinks the Pelicans are angling for a S&T with Evans for Vasquez and Robin Lopez. I could find the link but it attributes this idea to no one and doesn't even suggest it comes from anywhere but his rear. A link would offer no clarification. If this is what the Pelicans are trying to force the Kings to do, screw 'em. It Would make it easier to sign Iggy but there is no guarantee of that.

If it guaranteed Iggy, it would essentially be a trade of Iggy for Evans with an added PG and Lopez. Too bad there are no guarantees as that's not the worst idea in the book.

Too many rumors that are being treated like fact.

I guess this is off topic. I'll find the perfect place for it somehow.

Testify, brother! If someone stole my girlfriend, I wouldn't offer him gas money to take her out on a date.

His point makes perfect sense to me. Why does it have to be PG or nothing? What has McLemore proven in the NBA at this point? You do that and you have two assets that you can use to trade for other assets in the future if need be. You let Tyreke go and you lose one asset, plain and simple. But then again you're the guy who was all over Thomas Robinson and criticized others who were not sold on him, so what do I know about putting all your faith in an unproven rookie.

If we over pay Tyreke and still don't have a SF I think I'm going to jump off a cliff.
Promise? :p

Seriously, people need to get a grip. It's JULY 1. Everybody was ecstatic that Vivek stepped forward and bought the team. He's been pretty clear about his vision. Why not give him more than about 17 seconds to implement it? I get the anxiety, I really do. But the Maloofs are gone. They aren't coming back. The Kings front office will not be making decisions based on the $24.12 balance in the ol' bank account. Let things play out a little...

Because last season was so encouraging for development for our players right?

Btw, I still believe in Trob. He's still got a few years to put it together

I mean if they really want him all they need to do is match.
they can't match because he hasn't signed an offer sheet. Reke will meet with Atlanta tomorrow. They will give their spill and offer around the same. It doesn't hurt for Reke to just see what else is around the league. He may find out with these teams seeking him out may not be as good as the ride he could be on in Sacramento. The meeting with PDA and The V tonight encouraged him about the future of kings. see the woes of some more franchises could stabalize him even more right where he is in Sacramento.

ATL has only 20M in committed salary next year, 22M if they pick up two team options.

They can offer both more money than NO and more of the rock. Certainly more uncertainty in ATL though.
