[Game] Kings v. Mavericks - 3/5/13

we have a chance tonight guys! according to the Official NBA twitter account, we wont be dealing with Keith Smart tonight. LOL

@NBA
Coach Rick Adelman goes for win # 1,000 tonight as the @SacramentoKings host the @DallasMavs #adelman1000

Maybe our new ownership group let it slip that they have Adelman secured as our coach next season! :D

id like to take this opportunity to point out that i was criticizing Keith Smarts rotations in preseason and said we need to fire him ASAP because he's not going to change. people blasted me for saying that..................

sorry, but the award for longest tenured Smart detractor goes to rainmaker. he started criticising Smart and his rotations (or at least cautioning people) before he even coached a single game for the Kings.

By the all star break last year we knew exactly what we had in smart and they mirrored allot of the issues he had in GS. He fooled some of us when we saw a system start to take shape just after WP was canned but it didn't last. Its not a case of someone saying I told you so its a case of another year and a half of wasted time, learning, and lost talent. Its a case of reke going on the market as restricted and Cousins being up for renewal and if I had the ear of either I would be leery. Thankfully this off season major changes will occur and there is hope there. If the Maloofs were not forced to sell this off season if I were Reke I would have signed the offer match for 1 year and bolted and the same goes for Cousins no renewal sign one year as restricted and run.

We have had the talent to hit the playoffs in my opinion since the day we drafted Cousins and we have been playing well under our talent level. Cousins and Reke are both too good of passers to be constrained to the "system" we run and to be phased by double teams. All we needed around them was defensive sharpshooting role players and we would have had success. Orl did it with just Howard and 4 3 point shooters for years. We would have had that extra ability to have a second guy being able to get to the rim at will that would have put us over the edge that ORL couldn't get over. When you think of the cornerstones we had and the amount of cap space we had its a shame. We were supposed to have the complimentary pieces in place before we needed the exceed the cap for Reke and Cousins.
