Kings trade rumor SZN 2023-2024 edition!

I question whether or not he’s actually back. Didn’t really show up the last 2 games after seemingly getting back to his original self in those other games. He can’t be no-shows at all because this team only goes as far as he takes them, but I think that rings true for any good team out there.
Adding someone like Caleb Martin doesn’t do anything if Fox comes out and gives low effort with 12pts a night on bad shooting.
I’m not sold on Fox being back until he can do it every night like he did last year or at the start of this season.
Yeah that was an awful trade by Monte that doesn’t get talked about enough…

Starting to look like Monte's phone has been turned off haha. Well, nut cutting time awaits. Teams that got better this summer got better today. The only deal that I think Monte should have really gone after was a way to match that Bojan package. Ah well.

In just taking a gander at the Kings salary cap for next year, ouch. Am I seeing it right? With the Kings cap holds the Kings are in the luxury tax next year? And that's with Malik's cap hold of 12 million and not the max salary he can be signed for? If true Davion's got to go.

He had a really rough January. Not just scoring and shooting percentages, but assists and rebounds were down. That is who he is though, the variances are big highs and big lows since he was a rook. Not what you look from from your guy looking for a supermax, but it is what it is

The other thing that makes it looks bad is since the turn of the year his numbers being down has coincided with the Kings hovering right in a zone of just a few games above .500. That ain't getting it done. If that continues that's probably a play in team.
The Kings have defensive wings but Mike Brown refuses to give them consistent minutes for some reason… Duarte and Kessler. Don’t see House Jr getting minutes here.
Makes that Holmes trade look even worse. Salary dumped him with a 1st to get Sabonis’ extension… didn’t feel necessary.

Some he can. He's not nearly as quick with his lateral mobility as Martin is. Edwards on faster players is getting beat off the dribble. Of course, on the flipside we've seen moments where Kessler has held his own against smaller centers. Athletically the two are different.
I think it’s because they are offensive liabilities. So Brown/coaching/FO probably think the loss on offense offsets the plus defense they provide.

That wasn't the plan. The plan was most likely to clear that space so the could absorb the difference in salary with that Beal trade. I also think it's pretty obvious that Monte from day 1 ran it back with the hopes of flipping Huerter and Barnes later. The problem is that process included pushing them towards the back of the offensive pecking order, well with Barnes for sure, and it severely damaged their value since it wasn't just a few weeks, it was months.

If you look at his monthly stats last season, he also had a rough December. But then he blew up in February, averaging 32pts on 56/34/79 splits. It’s a roller coaster ride that we just have to get used to

Guards are like that historically. The thing with Fox is that he's on a team where too much of the burden is on him. If you are built around a guard reliant on drawing contact, you're going to need at least one other takeover player offensively. Most teams at the top have at least 2 players that can get you 25 a night even if they don't do it every night. If a team doesn't have that, they better have some pretty good defense to help ease that pain. The Kings by the averages aren't terrible defensively but it's not cutting it right now.

Yeah, and so far the result of Brown putting Duarte in over the offensive guy saw his offensive rating sink 7 points and the defense not only not improve but sink a point as well. This is a strategy problem that might be somewhat exacerbated by incomplete roster options along with not enough time to fit new guys in as need fillers. Brown has either been showcasing or searching but after the deadline that needs to stop. If this is the season of run it back then chemistry is his advantage. He's got to find his solid 9 and stick to it. Len and Keon will hopefully be a part of that because by their own play there was no reason for them to exit the rotation over Davion and JaVale in the first place.

The elite guards though are not seeing these wild swings month to month. Look at SGA, Doncic, Booker, and Curry’s monthly stats. Their scoring and shooting percentages are pretty consistent and have much, much smaller variances. I know what you’re saying about the burden he carries (I would argue SGA and Doncic do too) but it’s a consistent theme of who Fox is throughout his career. I love him but we do need players like Keegan to step up and soften the effect of these blips

Curry has months where his overall FG% dips. Plus he's always missing games. Doncic isn't De'Aaron. Doncic isn't a 180 pound PG. He's basically a PF sized PG. In terms of consistency size matters. Always has. Smaller guards are going to get dinged up and we know that's Fox to a T. He needs help. That's one of the main reasons why. Domas has stepped up but he's still maxing out as a scorer at around 20 a game.
