Hall of Famer
Can't watch the Suns game tonight!
--------------------------------------------------------------
The trade deadline didn't bother Kings to start 3 game losing streak in a convincing fashion - dominating the sucktitude, managing to "garbagize" any momentum that was built eith the 2 wins on the road. Kings are 27th best team in the NBA with 18-37 record, 5-24 on the road, losing 3 straight and after this one tonight - Kings will have 3 straight home game. It doesn't mean much anyways.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Christmas is over and Santa wasn't very giving although he wasn't awful either. We "lost" Martin, Rodriguez and Armstrong and got back Landry and change. Time will tell whether it was good or bad but the fact is that it wasn't a franchise changing trade. Kings couldn't even get a draft pick. We still have bunch of bad contracts like Nocioni, Udrih and Garcia but we have gotten rid of Martins ridiculous one. Maybe it is a first step towards something but nothing more than that.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
So, Kings have cap room for this summer which really means nothing because, Maloofs are willingness to spend it is as questionable as the willingness of a "good" player to come to Sacramento. With a lockout and changes in the CBA coming up - it would probably be smart for Maloofs to "wait another year" before spending a lot of money for a "Kevin Martin" type of player. Getting a star player to come to the Kings is most likely via sign and trade or trade. This is the part that I don't understand well anyways. Why does it matter where you live during the season? In the off season, as a player, you can live wherever you want. During the season, you should do your job anyways and just how much time will you spend at home? Kings as only show in town offers attention, excitement in an unique way. That is just me though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our last eternal flexible piece was "let go." His flexibility outlasted the cockroaches after the nuclear holocaust. His flexibility couldn't be turned even into a second draft pick in 2154. So long Kenny! We won't miss you but we will never forget you. How could we - ever?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Landry's first game was much, much worse that I expected it. Not a big deal. He didn't go 0-12 or 3-16. He is a foreign body in a body that is "confused" as it is. He will help us as much as a player of his caliber can. We shouldn't expect things he can't deliver. We are still a long was from being even mediocre. this will take time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Cisco is back - "unfortunately." I never liked him on the court. His shot selection, decision making have always made me suspicious of what he will do on the court form one second to the other. I will probably never understand why he was given such a large contract. Now, we have to live with it - for a while

------------------------------------------------------------------
Clippers traded Camby and Thornton and Davis was injured and yet Kings never really had a chance in this game due to pathetic taking care of the ball, horrible FT shooting as well as lack of rebounding and defense allergy that 10 gallons of benadryl and a taser gun therapy wouldn't cure. Kings were especially awful in the 2nd and deciding quarter allowing Clipper to score 39 points. Clippers only shot 80% from the three at the half which dropped to 50% at the end of the game. Clippers are one of the worst 3pt shooting teams.

AWARD TIME

TDM - The Butler did it

LW-VC -DeAndre " never will be mistaken for Michael' Jordan

JHA - Cisco "I was way more productive during my rehab" Garcia

MIKKI - Spencer " I didn't mean to get that one either" Hawes

SAR- Metuselah - Brian " I was the original flexible piece" Skinner

RA&1 - DeAndre " butterfingers' Jordan

Jax/Walk - Donte "I used to get more minutes" Greene

WTF moment of the game -Spencer hawes had as many rebound as missed dunks
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Suns didn't make any trades and they are rested. Also they need wins because fight for last 3 PO spots is close. Kings have already lost to Suns 3 times this season playing them pretty decent and having the chance to win in couple of ocassions but couldn't get ovet the FT shooting, rebounding or Steve Nash to steal one. In order to win this one and avoid the sweep Kings woul have to do what they can't so - why bother ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------
my matchups:

Nash vs. Evans - last chance for the rookie to get a piece of a veteran

Kings vs FT shooting - we need at least 80% !

Hawes vs 2 rebounds - can he do it ?

Landry vs Laundry - did we get the wrong brother ?

Dudley vs RA&1 award - a lock

PW vs lineup #31731 - the last one sucked - try it again

-------------------------------------------------
Evans - you need to force it more
Thompson - solid
Greene - more PT time
Landry - it can only get better
Hawes - boooooooooooooo

Casspi - less bad shots please !
Udrih - 5th wheel on a cart
Brockman - get well soon
Cisco - nothing would be much more

rest = mateen
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Suns are 6th iin the West with the 33-23 record. They are 19-7 at home and they have beaten us 3 times already this season. They are healthy and it is a must win for them. We have to find a way to make Nach either passer or scorer as well as made Amare defend us. Dudley gets the TDM. Dragic will be Tragic. Kings will unfortunately lose this one too.

our offense looks like this:

Why all this doom and gloom guys? Look at all the teams with major trades, they've all lost their first games and the new traded players played horrible. Including Cleveland

because we lost to the Clippers

I'm prediting Barbosa will join the long and distinguished list of players who, out of nowhere, become the next Michael Jordan - at least for about two hours.

Shouldn't we have a new award for this?? :D. Air Force One or MJ Award or something like that? :D

And no one should be comparing us to Cleveland.

Nobody's comparing the Kings to Cleveland. Just saying that teams and new players need time to adjust after a trade. Carl Landry and Dorsey haven't even had one practice with the Kings yet. Then you put Thompson at a new position and Garcia coming back for his 3rd or 4th game. It's like having 4 new players in the starting lineup.

Why all the Negativity ???

Sure we lost to the Clippers. Sure we are a bad team. There looks like nothing to root for and no light at the end of the tunnel. Sure our post players take the phrase too literally and play like fence posts, but at least they are there to get in the way. I think we need to start looking at the positives.

1) Hawes is proving in his 3rd year that he isn't an NBA player. He was a desperation selection in a year where big men were not plentiful in the draft. He was unfortunate to be stuck with Brad Miller as a mentor, and he has taken all of Miller's bad behavior without any of the good. This season will make the decision to take Hawes out of our future plans easier. He is not a willing, hungry, or dependable player. He is proving himself to be a total douche. A weak, sorry, and unashamed douche.

2) We have cap room that the Maloofs may need to actually use to improve the product. The product looks REALLY sad right now. Even though more people are going to see the Kings, and the attendance is better than you would think, the play has been pretty bad. Therefore the Maloofs will probably have to spring for one difference maker this off season just to get ANYONE to pony up money for season tickets. There just isn't a lot on the Kings to get anyone excited.

As a side note, I was surprised how fast they removed K-Mart from the Intro commercial! That was done very well. Good job editing department! No wonder they are getting emmy's!

3) There are players on the Kings who DO want to improve and will work very hard this summer to increase their strength and improve their game (Spencer Hawes will not be one of them...) I think that Evans will improve his outside shooting and Donte Greene will also improve his physical tools. So there is hope with some of our players. Casspi will benefit from another year. He has played very well as a rookie and I think sometimes we forget that he IS a rookie! JT will still get better. And also there will be addition by subtraction. Some players wont be back next year. We just have to see how it all shakes out, but I still trust Petrie to do what he does to get the team going in the right direction.

4) Carl Landry WILL not get sucked into the bad effort vortex. He is a player who has pride and will give effort regardless of the players around him. I think he will benefit from the effort of Evans, Greene, JT and Casspi eventually, and the Kings will get better if not win a few more games. My hope is Landry's work ethic will rub off on the other young players on the Kings and they will all get better together.

5) The Kings are one of the youngest teams in the NBA. It will take a year or 2 to see the kind of improvement that translates into wins. There is no substitute for experience. It might seem like they are not making any improvement, but every game gives the young players more experience that is absolutely necessary for their development. As the young players get more experience, and play together as a team for an extended period of time, they will improve as a unit. They will look more cohesive and eventually will win more games. At some point youth and exuberance overcome old age and wiliness. That point wont come this year, but it WILL come.

There are 5 reasons to keep your head up as a Kings fan and to look forward to the growth and maturity of this young team. We will be able to say that we saw them grow first hand into a unit that will become a competitive and challenging group. There are many painful and some very depressing losses between here and competitive. We will have to suffer the bad to better enjoy the good. As other teams in the west grow older and their stars begin to fade, the Kings will be on the rise and will take advantage of their youth and energy. I personally have no problem watching the bad (even though I complain just as much as the next poster!) knowing that the good will eventually come. I remember the Kings before Webber and Vlade came. They were hard to watch, but eventually they started winning and the pieces were added to make them more and more competitive. Petrie will probably add a piece this summer, and another lottery pick (It HAS to be A CENTER IN THE DRAFT, No CHOICE!) and the progress will continue. GO KINGS !!

Ha! I'm smitten for the kitten mittens. Thanks for the laugh!
Think there's no answer? You're so stupid! :D

But, back to the game...I have a bad feeling about this one. I'll watch it though, as it's a good excuse to put off doing my coursework.

Donte better get minutes tonight.

As far as Im concerned he should be starting and getting a Tyreke level of minutes.

These new guys... I really like their attitudes, seems like they will fit in great with out squad. Every interview they come off as good guys.
