13th August, 2005 - 3:53 pmThe Los Angeles Times - The Sacrament Kings signed 23-year-old forward Alexander Frolov to a five-year, $14.5-million contract on Friday.

Frolov, the Kings' first-round pick in the 2000 draft, had a team-high 24 goals during the 2003-04 season. The Kings envision his becoming a quality player that they can build a top line around.

"We know we got one of our top young players under contract for five years," General Manager Dave Taylor said. "That was important to us. We wanted to make that commitment to him." [READ]

I dont know who is, but why did they have to do a 5 year deal? Why not 2 or 3? Does anyone have info on this kid?

Um...did you notice anything else odd about the article? :p Like maybe the GM, or the fact "our" new player is scoring goals and was somehow drated without us noticing?

It was a typo -- they meant the L.A. Kings (hockey). ;)

Very very sad, but more than a little funny, that realgm picked that story up and put it on their firont page!

Technically, it said the "sacrament" kings. I was so dissapointed, too. Thought we had new news for a second when I saw it on realgm. :(

Yeah, but when I clicked on the Kings, it showed the Sacramento Kings archive and showed alll teh news of the Sacramento Kings. I guess RealGM messed up and so did I. :D

Sorry, but I just ahd to modify the title of the thread a bit -- it is amusing, but I didn't want to throw everybody visiting the site for a loop when they saw that thread title.

Well, we wanted a banger, didn't we? Let him hit the hardwood with his pads and let him check a few guys coming down the lane....

Okay, I suppose I should object here and talk about Dr. James Naismith and his vision of the game, etc.

Unfortunately, I can't. Why? Because I would LOVE to see that... I am sick and tired of our Charmin reputation. Saints preserve, I LIKED seeing Corliss be the Big Nasty on occasion last year and I would love to see the Brad Miller from pre-Kings days.

Not all the time, mind you, but just often enough to let teams know we're not going to wilt in the face of physical play.

Bring it on!!!

;)

I'm down with that!

I want to see Brad stop whining and start throwing some elbows of his own. In the '04 playoffs with Min, Brad was really banging with KG (Remember the hand to the face?) Obviously it's not his strength, but he used to bang a lot more.

As VF said "Bring it on!!":D

You know, with the new NHL rule changes that will open up game, players like Alexander Frolov can truly blossum in our "Pass the Puck" system here in "Sacrament". :p
