[News] Kings sign Precious Achiuwa

One other possible positive from this move is that if the team can't navigate Keegan's downtime with this signing it may just be one more piece of evidence that Perry needs to turn over the roster at the deadline.
I’m still of the belief that we are all projecting onto Perry what we want to believe. That this is a master tank plan on his part and we will rejoice at the trade deadline when he finally convinces Vivek (through some sort of hypnosis) to dump our vets for picks and salary filler. What other explanation could there be? Well, maybe Perry really thinks he can make enough Russel/Precious moves around the edges to get this squad to work? I will gladly eat crow on this but I think Perry is stuck a decade behind the curve in current thinking and his GM schmoozing skills may be vastly overblown.

We are currently on pace to finish 33-49. If that holds he won’t have much choice but to trade off what he can. I’d imagine Russ would get bought out to help a contender and they would at least try to trade Deebo. If they can’t, he almost certainly gets bought out next year because we would likely be over the tax with the Keegan extension kicking in.

We'll be a tax team next year if we re-sign Keon and Keegan kicks in, no-way Vivek is going to pay the tax with a 13-15 place team. Especially when the arena will be empty if they don't lower ticket prices.

Hey, easy fix there. We just let Keon walk. I mean the guy only gets 20 minutes a game and we are stacked at the off guard so what’s the harm…,

This scenario presupposes Perry does nothing at the February trade deadline, which means another entire year wasted playing the vets big minutes and underdeveloping the youngins.

My current league pass sub expires at the end of December and at this rate if Monk and DDR are here at the deadline I'm going to cancel until we land a top 4 pick again.

The sad /crazy thing is Precious might be the best signing the Kings have made in the past 2-3 years, team needed a tough energetic good rebounding big, also in other stories of past deep bench Kings, Mason Jones got cut after 5 games in the garbage Australian League he was shooting like under 30% or something really bad

What the Kings need is a stretch 4 who can hit the 3. Precious is career 30% 3-point shooter with his best year in 21-22 at 36%. Last year was 28%. A team like like the Kings needs more 3-point shooting. They just add from one column and subtract from another column with this signing. The hamster continues to spin.

if we are 8 games under .500 at the deadline I’d be surprised if he doesn’t start playing the youngsters more but it’s hard to say.

Will he dress and play tonight? He could replace Sabonis or line up behind Eubanks in the rotation.

I see. But it seemed no one was interested over the summer. He has three years left on his contract.
It seemed like Dallas was a good fit and I still think they might give up on the Cooper can play the point experiment sooner rather than later? I don't know. There will be injuries, unexpected teams in contention, all sorts of things that lend themselves to making a move if you see a door open. I guess I am more than a lot concerned that if Monk is here, Keon won't be.

When Charlotte failed to pick up their option on Monk in 2021, he said that the only two teams that showed any interest were the Lakers, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and Jason Kidd for the Mavericks. It could happen.

I was surprised they committed long term to both Gafford and PJ this summer while being thin in the back court. Once they picked up D-Lo it seemed maybe a trade there was off the table but I still think Monk for one of those two makes sense for both of us. They might get way better offers though.

Hey this is Nico Harrison we’re talking about. Let’s ask for Cooper Flagg.

Ok but for now, Precious is absolutely needed as well. The entire league would love a stretch 4 that can hit the 3 lol those aren't just growing on trees but Keegan will be back soon so that helps until we get one of those and he can move to the SF position one day

What is he needed for exactly? To get a smaller lineup when Sabonis goes out? To have less 3 point shooting when Sabonis is in? He's just another body on the floor from what I can tell.
