Kings sign Emmanuel Mudiay

LOL Mudiay somehow has a negative cumulative win share despite playing in the league five seasons lol

so Mudiay left Europe, where he can get starter minutes possibly and more to come to leave it behind to only sign a 10 day? doesn't add up

This is a solid 10 day contract pick up. Wouldn’t mind seeing Pinson in a Kings uni for a trial run. He has the tools to be an elite wing defender.

Or Kris Wilkes, if he ever plays again. Has tools to be an elite wing shooter and defender.

I believe Mavs picked up Pinson on hardship considerations.

Quick search of current free agents at the pg n wing spots: Pat McCaw n Dwayne Bacon.

Plus Bennie Boatwright, who is 6’10 n has some tools.

No idea if these dudes are still playing, injured, or overseas.

Was wondering what happened to him. Mudiay went one pick after WCS and was drawing comparisons to John Wall during that 2015 draft.
Guess you never know, but wish him the best.
I remember people being furious at Vlade for passing on him for WCS because they weee convinced he was going to be an elite fit next to Boogie.

I think this is a decent move. Plan must be as backup PG. He'll def give us more than Robinson.
With Tyrese getting so many minutes tho I'd figure we'll see them getting some play together. .. this pushes Ramsey back to garbage time. I don't really care, gotta do what we gotta do for consistancy at this point. Sorry not sorry.

Basically the bad version of Tyreke Evans. Should be fun to get a look, sometimes an overseas stint can really help a player. Still somehow only 25 years old
Speaking of Tyreke, I guess the suspension was the death sentence for his career with all these random guys being picked up.

Yea, then Vlade picked two foreign bigs in the 2nd round, surprise surprise.
I was leaning Stanley Johnson or Winslow, both available, even though in hindsight Booker or Myles Turner have had the most success.

Mudiay is an interesting player. I remember watching him play games in China before the draft and he was talented but a little predictable on his drives, good vision for kick out passes to the perimeter but not real creative off the bounce in half court sets, likes to use a spin move to get to the basket or pull up from midrange and he's not much of a shooter from distance (though hopefully he's improved by now). Basically if you don't like De'Aaron Fox, you probably won't like Mudiay either. He's a bigger and slower version.

Also, I'm still pissed at Bennie Boatwright for being lazy as hell and excusing himself from playing defense or working on his post game so he can stand on the perimeter and do nothing but fire threes all game. He was a senior at USC when Metu was a Freshman and if Chimezie has any sense he's still pissed at Bennie too for tanking that season so bad they didn't even make the tournament. I wouldn't want him anywhere near this team.

I was furious at Vlade for picking WCS over about 7 different prospects, though Mudiay was indeed one of them. Also Stanley Johnson (bust), Myles Turner (good), Justise Winslow (meh), Bobby Portis (good), Devin Booker (all-star), Kelly Oubre (good). Knowing what I know now, I'm not sure it would have mattered. The following season was the infamous George Karl season which was pretty much the beginning of the end for DeMarcus' tenure with the Kings anyway and I doubt any rookie would have changed that outcome.

Boatwright has the tools. Mindset?

WCS could’ve made max $$$$, but the lack of a motor and focus on defense has doomed him to a 10 yr, Javale McGee like career. Dude has always given off the vibes that he plays hoops, because he can. Not because he loves it.

Yeah Stein has elite quickness for his size, but doesn't want to mix it up. He could easily be an exceptional defender, but doesn't care enough. See how Mudiay does - wonder if he'll even get minutes....top competition usually will win over a pro athlete over money - too bad for Jimmer - a phenom in China and college, but never-was in the NBA. Mudiay at 25 yro should be in his physical prime.

Man, if Willie played even half as hard as JaVale does he’d be on a huge contract. Javale’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, but you cannot deny that man’s hustle out there in his late career.

True, but there was a time when some people thought Javale, including himself, could be a three. I get the feeling that Bags will end up having a similar arc where he’s still in the league ten yrs from now, but has morphed into a hustling, defending bench pro like McGee.

I'm still scratching my head about Stanley Johnson not being able to carve out a spot for himself in the NBA. You just never know
