Pau has player option for next season which means a likely 30 game rental. Don't know if it's worth it to be honest.

The Bulls have discussed deals with multiple NBA teams on Gasol, but one discussion lingered on Tuesday, league sources told The Vertical’s Wojnarowski and Chris Mannix: Gasol and Tony Snell to the Sacramento Kings for Kosta Koufos, Ben McLemore and a lowering of the lottery protections on the 2016 first-round pick that Sacramento owes the Bulls.The pick is protected Nos. 1-10, but the Bulls and Kings discussed lowering the protections further to give Chicago a better chance of obtaining use of the pick in 2016, league sources told The Vertical.

It doesn't sound horrible if gasol agrees to extend. Heard he wanted to with the Bulls but don't know how he feels about extending with Kings

If you read further down there is more info that the deal is dependent on Philly who want sweeteners since they have right to swap picks with us.
Pau didn't want to sign with the Thunder because they are a small market and he can't go to the artictic events (e.g opera, exhibitions etc...) so there is no chance he agreed to stay with Kings and he cannot do it anyway until he becomes a free agent.

Of course you create the frontcourt of the gods...for a few years. But the holding him here has to be Cuz, Rajon, and Vlade Divac himself, the former great international center.

Might be a little different between OKC, where you are 1000 miles from that stuff, and Sacto, where its 100 miles away in the Bay.
Nonetheless, I certainly wouldn't bet the franhcise on it unless I was Vlade and quite possibly knew Pau a little bit.

a 35 year old Gasol that's going to be a free agent....hmm I don't really see the use for this type of move, anything involving that draft pick I don't want any part of. Other than that I suppose if the goal is to make the playoffs this season then you make this trade, even though I don't think that would be enough to get the Kings in the spot considering the competition has been playing better i.e. Portland & Utah while Houston is on a downward spiral

Yep, but that would be a "teach the guys how to win" move.
Seriously, you can't do it if he's going to leave, but I'm confused myself about the confusion of Vlade's overriding aim since taking over -- he's been adding winners. Stack up enough of them and things have to turn maybe. That would be the third member of our 9 man rotation who had won titles, yet more hundreds of games of playoff experience, Boogie would get the second All Star he has ever played with -- both added by Vlade this year (Rajon).

Agree with you that Gasol won't be enough to make the playoffs this year. At 35 years old, he has maybe another 2 good years left? Don't like this trade, esp giving up our lottery pick for him.

As I said in the other thread, this is absolutely consistent with Vlade's goals -- yet another championship winner in our rotation. Yet another former All Star. We've been the 2nd losingest team in the NBA over the last decade, and Vlade appears to be doing everything in his power to teach us how to win through sheer accumulation of massively experienced vets.
Remember those remarks I have made about how ****ing ridiculous the red carpets into the league have been for many HOF big men, walking right into situations where they get mentored by multiple HOFers? Well, 6 years on, how about Vlade finally getting Cuz some championship caliber guys to teach him how to win?
Also BTW, remmeber the upcoming coaching search. If Vlade was sure Pau might stay, how much more attractive to an incoming coach to have Cuz and Pau and Rondo and etc. there.

I can't believe anyone is seriously for this Gasol trade. It would make our defense worse, do nothing to help our SG problems and only guarantee we lose our draft pick this year (as well whatever else we have to do to get the 76ers to sign off on it). Terrible.

Where are those athletic defensive kids coming from? The D League? If Gasol opts out, how are we going to pay Gasol and Rondo? So we're going to start Rondo, Marco, Gay, Gasol and Cousins. Wow. We might give up 120 per game.

Snell is the interesting case. People forget -- coming out of college he was supposed to be Bowen. Or a poor man's. He hasn't been. But I continue to wonder about whether he could be with the rgiht stimulus.
Anyway there though, its acquiring a HOF mentor for Cuz, adding to the Spursy international flavor, saving the SG for summer.

76er deal coming back to haunt Vlade already ...
My first reaction to this is that Chicago and Philly are raking our rookie GM over the coals!!!! Look...WE are taking the risk here trading for a pending free agent and giving up a 23 year old high flyer and quality big locked into a good contract.
And the Bulls want their pick like Top 7 or Top 5 or whatever protected instead of Top 10 and Hinkie wants to squeeze Vlade again?!??!?! BULLcrap!
Hang up the phone Vlade and don't pick it up again until reading the "Art of the Deal".
My second reaction is this trade would make the team good because it would lower Boogie's usage and he could focus on defense and you could also run a lot of HIGH/LOW post with Boogie and Gasol interchangeable.
They would be good potentially devastating because they are both so skilled. And it would give Rondo another great target on his dribble drives.
Maybe Gasol could give Boogie some tips on low post moves. /ducks
I like this trade because as I have said Willie and Koufos are duplicative and Willie will soon be doing better everything Koufos can do. So he's expendable. With Gasol you have a better passer on the front line which is desperately needed....with Snell you can add some more size to your backcourt and long defender and maybe he can develop into a SG.
I liked Snell going all the way to before he was drafted. He's a smooth player with length who can guard two spots on the floor (SG/SF) and a semblance of an offense game that hasn't yet come together.
If Vlade thinks he can convince Gasol to resign he should make this trade.

Tony snell is part of the deal. He could be our wing defender or play behind Marco.

Again, if Gasol opts out for more $$$ and Rondo wants more $$$, how are we getting a SG? We have no assets. Are you trading Gay for one? So Casspi/Snell is our SF rotation going forward?
