This was mentioned as some sort of rumor on KHTK tonight. I was listening around 8:30 when I heard it.

I think it would be a great idea. McGrady is very special player. The Kings would get a legitimate Superstar that we haven't had since pre-injury Webber. The injury issues and recurring back problems would be a concern, but McGrady is still in his prime. Opportunities to get a superstar come around once a decade, and I hope this rumor has something to it. I, for one, would be one of the first to buy a #1 McGrady Kings jersey.

This looks good from Houston's perspective too, as it reunites Adelman with Bibby and they pick up a solid SF in return. It allows Yao to assume the role as the number one option and, IMHO, would improve their team overall.

It makes Rockets as a real contender, filling their holes.

And it doesn't solve any of our problems. We don't need another swingmen, actually we have to unload some swingmen and add some PFs.

No. I like McGrady, but he misses too many games with that bad back of his. I don't foresee that ever changing. :(

I cannot buy into something where "injury issues and recurring back problems" are part of the equation. Tracy McGrady isn't the solution to our problems.

I'll pass. McGrady is made of glass, and Martin (who plays the same position) may end up better than him.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves.

Injury is a big concern, but what worries me most about McGrady is his depressive/defeatist personality. He let's it slip out every now and then. Its a possible answer to why he has yet to lift his teams past the first round despite all his talent.

In a recent interview about the trade rumors and how the team has been playing without him, he pointed out that the team's little win streak was against sub par opponents and that the game tonight against NO would be a better test. There's truth in that but it shouldn't have come from him. Maybe all this talk of the team being better without him will shake him up.

McGrady plays just as many games per season as Artest on average. McGrady is a legitimate 20/6/5 guy with a steal and a block per game on top. He is an above average defender and one of the most prolific scorers in the game. He has never missed a playoff game. I don't see Martin ever developing into the passer or rebounder that McGrady is. He is only 28 years old.

I must be missing something here. I can't believe that I am the only one who would do this trade.

Edit: A couple others jumped on the bandwagon while I was brainstorming my response.

Funny, I brough this trade-up a couple of weeks ago in another thread. At that time I thought the Rockets would never go for it. But now?...maybe. Us?....how many more games would Tmac miss relative to Bibby and Artest?
