Kings rebuilt part deux - Two deals with Dallas and Indy

Maybe...but I think Scola will be a good NBA player. I think he's in a better environement in Houston and with a good veteran team with a good veteran coach.
i agree lol oh boy i cant wait to see adelman back in action i'm sooo going to be routing for them against anyteam they play lol except the kings GO KINGS

And the team I've built is patterned after the Pistons 04 team...which is really the best we can do w/o getting that star player.

Tell me this...what would you do to acquire this 'star' player that is different from what I have suggested...

It's easy to find fault, show me the solution then.

If your goal is just to accumulate talent without regard to winning, then I agree with you. The team that you built may not win many games, but it has enough young talent to maybe trade for a disgruntled star.

But I think the 04 Piston is an anomally; help greatly by a very weak eastern conference and the choking of the Lakers. There's likely not another champion team like that Piston team for another 30 years. Unlike the Piston, we are stuck in a very strong conference for the next decade. The 04 Piston would have trouble making it out of the western conference.

But there is no sure fire way to land that franchise player. Nowadays, disgruntled stars want to team up with other big stars. I don't see KG or Kobe fighting to go to Charlotte or New Orleans, even though those teams have young deep talent. For a team like us, the best and probably only way to land that future hall of famer is through the draft. Last season, one loss, one, separated our ping bong balls from Portland's. If we put ourself in a position to land the #1 pick, a simple stroke of luck can change this entire franchise. But we have to pick the right year too; for example, I don't see any franchise player in next year's draft. A lot of stars, but no one like Lebron or Oden.

While you're right that LUCK, COULD, get us that star player...it's just that....LUCK! You can't count on it jsut like you can't count on winning the a million dollars in the lottery later in your life...you have to prepare for the future and work the trade routes and free agency and if, by chance, you win the lottery all the better. I think UTAH is a prime example of this. They spent wisely on Boozer/Okur. Drafted Kirilenko late in the 1st round a feew yeras back...and then created their own luck by dealing away future assets to move up and land Deron Williams at #3. IMO they made BRILLIANT rebuilding moves.

I'd want to see the Kings pattern themselves after that matter. I think these deals do that...FA opens up in 2010...draft solid players..make deals and CREATE your own luck in the draft the way you WANT it to happen.

With these two deals I see the Kings future roster being:

C - Spencer Hawes
PF - Darrel Arthur (picked up in the 2008 lottery that we'd inevitably be in)
SF - Danny Granger
SG - Kevin Martin
PG - Devin Harris
6th - Francisco Garcia
7th - Quincy Douby
8th - Justin Williams

WOW, I absolutely love that. It is a longshot, but wow.

Yes, I agree: create your own luck. Putting yourself in a position to land the top pick is creating your own luck, like Cleveland did in 2003.

What I disagree though, is build a some-what competitive team that is neither good enough to make noise nor bad enough to land a top draft pick. That's all I'm saying.

As for Utah, they still lack that franchise player. They may turn some heads in the playoffs but they'll not bring home the torphy. I hope we turn out much better than them.
