Practice Quotes-March 10, 2005
Cuttino Mobley:
“Yeah, I’m gonna play tomorrow, I’ll feel a lot better for tomorrow. I’ve been getting rehab the last week and I played today, so.”
Will the offense suffer because of all the new faces?
“Not really. I hope not. We have a lot of guys who are unselfish. But our main focus is to play defense for these last 20 games. Defense brings offense and I have no problem scoring, so I’m not worrying about that.”
How important is it for you to get back out there?
“It’s definitely important. This is the first year that I’ve missed so many games, through Orlando and here. I’ve gotten a bunch of bumps and bruises and I haven’t taken care of my body like I should, but it’s like that sometimes. I need to get out there so I can help out as best I can to make it a little easier.”
What was your reaction to Mike Bibby's shot versus Memphis?
“That was huge, there’s not too much to say about it. It was a great shot, the concentration level was there, it was a good pass by Peja.”
Peja Stojakovic:
Your thoughts on the Memphis game?
“Give credit to Memphis for their defense, we turned the ball over too much, but we were able to regroup, especially the last couple of minutes on the defensive end, and you saw what happened.”
“We feel better. Each and every day I’m felling better, and I’m hoping that over the next couple of games my shot will go in. Tomorrow’s game we’re going to have Cuttino back and hopefully we’ll get Brad back, and it’s time to get everyone back and try to play as a team for the first time after the trade.”
Are you concentrating on defense more?
“I’m trying, I’m trying. There is still a lot of work left, but I thing we’re trying, we’re really helping and talking to each other and giving the effort.”
How nice is it to have guys fill in and be successful with all the injuries?
“It’s been the case for the last couple of years. We’ve always had some guys to step up—it’s just a matter of being ready. All the guys are ready, they’ve been working hard and waiting for their opportunity and now they have their chance. And they’re proving it.”
How was practice today?
“We had like 12 guys. For the first time in a long time we were able to play five-on-five, so it was a good feeling. We were able to work the floor, which was good.”
