Kings Playoff Standings Watch!!!

Kings Playoff Tracker

The Suns, with their win tonight over the Nuggets, have locked up the #4 seed. The Jazz, meanwhile, lost to the Thunder and found themselves in the lottery for certain.

If my numbers are right, Minnesota has the individual tiebreakers over both OKC and Dallas, and they also hold the three-way tiebreaker, so they can do no worse than 9th, and OKC and Dallas are fighting it out for the #10 slot, with OKC holding the tiebreaker. That means that the Mavericks can lose their way out of the play-in with a loss against Chicago tomorrow.

Other teams fighting for position tomorrow include the Grizzlies and the Kings (anything other than a Grizz L and a Kings W will set the #2 and #3 seeds in stone), and the Warriors, Lakers, and Pelicans, who are all still in that big mix for the #5-#9 seed.

Today's games:
PHX def. Nuggets
OKC def. Jazz

Playoff Seeding (Bold games are next day):
1) Denver Nuggets

-----Kings' Range-----
2) MEM (50-30) @MIL, @OKC -- TB=Kings
3) SAC (48-32) GSW, @DEN
-----Kings' Range-----

4) Phoenix Suns

5) LAC (42-38), POR, @PHX
6) GSW (42-38), @SAC, @POR --> Current Kings' opponent if standings hold

7) LAL (41-39), PHX, UTA
8) NOP (41-39), NYK, @MIN
9) MIN (40-40), @SAS, NOP
10) OKC (39-42), MEM

11) DAL (38-42), CHI, SAS

Jazz play the Nuggets and Lakers. They are two games behind Dallas who is likely still trying to win games but no other teams are really in range of their finish for lotto positioning. So they may go into their final game with LAL with a spoiler opportunity and nothing to lose by winning. I wonder what PHX will do given they haven't had a lot of time together with this roster but nothing to play for. Would be interesting if LAL somehow lost their last two, but given what we've seen from the refs that's not likely.

Dropping this game could potentially setup a series with the Clippers, instead of the Warriors, if the Clips lose to Phoenix. Maybe they don't care either way, or maybe they'd rather face LAC?

I know I would rather face the Clippers without Paul George than the defending-champion Warriors with the Splash Brothers, Jordan Poole, and possibly Andrew Wiggins. So I look for an entertaining loss to Golden State tonight.

We're back to lins faster than I thought we would be.

See this garbage? I’m glad Laker fans are pissed we’re resting our main guys lol Sabonis would foul out in 10-15 minutes

Wow, it's CRAZY how blatant the refs have been in getting the Lakers into the playoffs.

It's going to be hard for any team to beat the Lakers 8-on-5 in the playoffs. I'm hoping either Denver or Memphis beats them in the first round. I don't want anything to do with this crap officiating come the playoffs!

The refs lousy calls really suck but what's worse are the fans actually cheering that s***. When my wife saw that she said if the Lakers play the Kings and get those kinds of calls in Golden 1 the fans might just riot...

Does anyone think the Clippers might try to throw a game to avoid Phoenix?

The way it's setup, LAL has resting Suns and tanking Jazz.

GSW has resting us and tanking Blazers.

LAC has resting Suns and tanking Blazers.

But LAC holds the tiebreak against the other two. Assuming GSW and LAL win out, LAC can drop a game to slide into 6th. And GSW has to take it because they don't have the tiebreak against LAL.

Edit: I forgot about NOP. They hold the tiebreaker against LAC, but not against LAL, so that makes things difficult for them.

Yeah and that was a 1 point overtime win against the Jazz who were still playing for the post season.
It just ruins the sport in my opinion and recon only a Laker fan can see anything just about it.
Odds are we won't face them first round but that's not a done deal yet. Glad I'm not a fan of Ja Morant, makes this nonsense easier, regardless no respect for Silver allowing it to happen.

lol It's possible LA Clippers try to lose to get down to #6 seed lol to avoid the Suns. GS can't afford to do the same by losing as well because Lakers can pass them for #6 seed lol. Clippers being on top can control their destiny by losing or winning lol.

Here's an interesting part, if Lakers lose tonight...Clippers can actually secure the #6 seed by losing the two remaining games... and bump Warriors to #5 seed...assuming Warriors will beat the Kings (which they probably will because the Kings are resting all their pieces).

I think all the teams in 5-7 or so will be trying to outsmart themselves. We saw it happen a few years ago before the pandemmy, the year we lost win 40. Portland was trying to tank for a favorable matchup, they didn't get it but then everything fell into place anyway. will happen to some genius team this year too. Hopefully the one that thinks we are an easy mark.

Yeah I like the idea of just not caring what happens, let the chips fall where they may. Rest our main guys, get geared up and make sure everyone is ready to go game 1. It really doesn't matter who's at 6, all of the match-ups are going to be tough.

Being the #3 seed is actually ideal in many ways.

#1) We will know our opponent at the conclusion of Sunday play, while #1 and #2 will need to wait and see the results of the play-in games in the next week before they can game plan for the playoffs.

#2) We actually play better on the road than at home, so I don't think it would be a great disadvantage to give up home court advantage to Denver or Memphis in the potential 2nd round match up.

#3) We will most likely avoid the Lakers in the 1st round and the 8 on 5 referee circus that will happen to any team playing the Lakers

Rooting for the Bulls today. Their a lock for the play-ins already but they’ve played some good spoiler game’s lately and I for one would love to see Luka, the Mavs, and the NBA denied a trip to the post season.

Good and interesting points but I do worry about road games in Denver due to altitude. Hoping someone takes them out.

I’d love a shot at Denver, actually think they would be one of our best outcome opponents.
Lake Tahoe is a 1000 feet higher than Denver, I lived in Santa Fe for years which is nearly 2000 feet higher. With all due respect sir, I would think with well conditioned athletes this wouldn’t be that big a deal.

I feel like all those teams angling to play us in the first round is bad psychology - for them. Basically you're sending a message to yourself that you're weak and need to face the (perceived) weaker opponent. I feel like Brown is telling our guys "Doesn't matter who we face - we can beat anybody". In sports at this level that type of psychological advantage can be the literal game changer.
