Kings player of the decade

<-----(despite the guy on my avi because he's good too)

I'd say Vlade if I have to choose one or him tied with Webber

thats not saying much, since none of them lasted more than 5-6 years this decade. mike bibby and kevin martin have been the longest tenured kings this decade.

so my vote would go to bibby... webber is a close 2nd, if it were just the first 5 years of the decade i would choose webber but he hasnt been here since 2005.

It's not about tenure, it's about overall impact.

Chris Webber.

Although I'd put Vlade in as essential as well because I think he added to team chemistry and made Webber play better.

Webber and Divac are the only two that deserve to be in this conversation.
While I mostly agree, I think Bibby merits at least some minor consideration. He certainly hit one of the (if not the) most memorable shots of the decade and Sacramento-era Kings history. Ultimately I give it to Webber based on overall talent, though it really is hard to ignore Vlade's leadership, particularly in hindsight.

Why does there even need to be a discussion about this. List the entire 2001-2002 team and call it a day. That was the one year that can be pointed to as the single best team including injury considerations that the Kings had.

Yeah, unfortunately the #1 memorable shot in Kings history was made by Robert Horry.

Vlade was the glue. Webber may have had more impact, but Vlade was THE most important person on that team.

I dunno, Bibby's was the next game. Unfortunately it was followed by some of the most memorable misses the next 2 :(

But still, living in SoCal at the time, I was riding on cloud 9 after game 5. Thankfully I was in Las Vegas during game 4 and I am not a betting man :)

And I'm down to giving it to team of the decade and calling it a day. What a year. What a team!

Vlade Divac. (period!)

None of the glory days would have happened without him - or at least they would have not been nearly as glorious. Sure Chris Webber was a great player, but it was reluctant greatness from the start in Sacramento. He dissed Sac when notified he'd been traded and then made matters worse by missing his first Kings practice in some kind of superstaritis syndrome. Webber's dad told him to get his butt in gear and he made the next practice - with Vlade immediately mentoring as the wise older brother teammate. Doug Christie most honorable mention.

So, in spite of everything that came after, it's that part of Webber's tenure here that continues to be brought up? Seriously????

Chris Webber gave everything he had to this team every single night. He never once showed anything but support for the team and the town, continuing to do so even after he was traded away without so much as a "thanks for the memories" (until much, much later).

Webber made us relevant. He put us on the map as a legitimate contender. Yes, Vlade was the glue that helped stick the team together but without Chris Webber's presence he would have been holding together a much lesser team.

I'd like to think that at this point in time people can look at Webb's entire career here and not the first 48 hours before he ever put on a Kings uniform.

Webber's first 48 hours were in a previous decade so I didn't consider it :)

im suprised there is no votes for peja, he made 3 all-stars appearences for the kings this decade and won the two 3pt shoot-outs. of course those are just accolades.

I agree Webber in terms of impact except he got injured in the 2003 playoffs and was never the same after that. Considering the decade goes from 2000 to 2009 that's just not enough Webber for me to call him the guy for the Kings for those 10 years. It's got to be Bibby I think. After Webber was traded and before he hurt his hand he had that year where he was the man for us and notched several 40 point games in one month. Then you factor in all the playoff performances when he carried the team and how much time he spent as a King this decade -- 6 and a half years. His shooting dropped way off after that which didn't leave a good impression on the way out, but if we look at who was the Kings' top player for the most time this decade I think it can only be Bibby.

Oh and Christie was my favorite player too. It was tough to see him go.

I was sitting there in 109 the whole time. Webber was great but I'll pick the glue. Without Vlade it would never have happened. VLADE DIVAC - Kings player of the decade. Love Christy, love Bibby but the team did it and the glue made the team.
