Kings Notes: At last, reasonably priced Kings gear

It was Free Kings Paraphernalia Day at Arco Arena on Tuesday night, with balls, sweatbands and game balls going to anyone who could catch the flying souvenirs.

The fans' gain was the Kings' loss, however, as the home team reacted with unabashed anger after falling 125-123 to the Phoenix Suns.

Chris Webber punted the ball inches from the upper deck after the controversial block of Brad Miller's layup ended the game, and Miller finally left the court screaming after firing his headband and armband into the stands. Even Colleen Maloof, the mother of co-owners Joe and Gavin Maloof, was yelling as she left.

On the other side, the only thing the Suns were throwing was a party. Amare Stoudemire, whose controversial block ended the game, said he didn't have any doubt the right call was made.

"Yeah, it was a block," he said. "The officials called it a block, didn't they?"

Miller also claimed he was hit on the play, although it wasn't a surprise Stoudemire disagreed.

"Don't (buy) into that stuff," Stoudemire said. "I hit it as soon as it left (Miller's) hand. There was no contact."

Of the Kings' postgame antics, Stoudemire said he wouldn't have acted in the same manner had the call gone the other way.

"You've still got to respect the game of basketball and contain your emotions," Stoudemire said. "I can't speak for them, but for us, the Phoenix Suns, we're a well-behaved team."

Miller time

Miller was a happy man afterward - if only for a second. The Kings' center said he was relieved not to be named an All-Star, because it means a few days off for much-needed rest."That's great news for me," he said.

As for the non-goaltending call?

"That was one of the worst calls ever," he said. "You can't just not call something when it's above the rim. They make these rules, and when they're not followed, we can't do anything about it."

Another threat

The Suns traded a conditional 2005 second-round pick to Boston for cash and Walter McCarty, a 6-foot-10 forward in his ninth season. McCarty is the Suns' third midseason addition, joining Jim Jackson and Bo Outlaw.

Respect......

Outside of Nash, I've really lost respect for the Suns......for the comments they made about the game as well as the Kings themselves:

"Yeah, it was a block," he said. "The officials called it a block, didn't they?"

Miller also claimed he was hit on the play, although it wasn't a surprise Stoudemire disagreed.

"Don't (buy) into that stuff," Stoudemire said. "I hit it as soon as it left (Miller's) hand. There was no contact."

Of the Kings' postgame antics, Stoudemire said he wouldn't have acted in the same manner had the call gone the other way.

As far as that comment in bold: Of course you wouldn't have, the game would have went to overtime.

You saw the replay and I believe the officials saw the replay. It was a great block.”
---from his postgame quote

What the #$$%^%, he knows damn well the refs didn't even review the play.

Shawn Marion:
“It was a block. You know it was a block. They called a block didn’t they? So it was a block.”

It's also obvious that Mike D'Antoni didn't pick a Kings player either:
"(The Kings) have a lot of guys to pick from, but they didn't have that one guy."

At least Richardson was honest about it:
"I would have voted for Webber or Bibby, but not over one of our three guys," Phoenix swingman Quentin Richardson said.

^About Mike D'Antoni, I was listening to the radio before the game. Grant and Mike was interviewing him...all he talked about was how good his team is. I know Suns' a good team but it's just felt weird hearing the coach praise them that much. It's not like they won the NBA champ. Even Pop and Adelman don't praise their own team that much as Mike D'Antoni.

"You've still got to respect the game of basketball and contain your emotions," Stoudemire said. "I can't speak for them, but for us, the Phoenix Suns, we're a well-behaved team."
Hahahaha!! What a funny quote. If Amare was on the Kings, he'll probably BS more than Cuttino! Haha. :D

I totally agree with this.

tsss amare? he's nothing without nash.. he should be giving half his salary to nash, and he better make sure nothing happens to stevie..

remember in that spurs game where he did push ups?! wtf?

Amare effin Stoudamire

is anyone just feeling the arrogance just steaming off his comments

i got something for you Amare when i see you...you can best believe that

WOW! the balls that the kid has...::shakes head::....the audacity

it doesn't bother me what Shawn Marion said...i don't know why...cuz i feel like it was an honest comment...i mean what else was he suppose to say...it wasn't a block his team wouldn't of won in regulation...is he suppose to say..."man we got lucky" or "it was pretty close" ofcourse not....but its something about the way that AS said is comments...and im just reading them...i didn't hear them live...a lot of arrogance

but i was thinking has Brad was flinging every band on his body into the crowd..."man i wish i there and could cop one of those" hehehe but thats just me

I remember a few weeks ago, when the Suns beated the Wolves (like badly..lol). I was reading the recap of the game and Amare said something..."in the 4th qtr, we could have gone up by as many as 40 or 50 points. But we didn't play in the 4th (since it was garbage mins)..." I know Wolves isn't playing great right now...but did you have to say that, Amare?? I don't like how the attitude is.

i love how the Suns avg about 109/110 points per game...but when Nash was out they STRUGGLED to score 80 points...gosh he makes that team so much better

Wow! I hope the Kings heard the comments made by Stoudemire.

Boy you just signed your death warrant!! If anything is going to wake this sleeping dragon that might be it.

I like Nash as a player but Mark Cuban knows something we don't. Cuban could have easily kept Nash but he knows the guy is going to break down at some point, not if, but when. The only difference is that Dallas would still be a contender when Nash was banged up, and as its been proven, the Suns are a lottery team.

I hope Nash continues in good health, but look at the facts, he is playing the most physical he has ever played and it will hit him harder than ever before. Thats when the Sun will set.

Even Colleen Maloof, the mother of co-owners Joe and Gavin Maloof, was yelling as she left.

I really need to meet this lady.

WTG, Mrs. M!!!!!

:D
