Kings need to make a coaching move NOW!

Well it looks like SVG is going to Orlando, no surprise there, but was he even the Kings' first choice? With everything going on yesterday we still aren't even sure if the Kings actually offered the job to him. Orlando was all over the news speeding up the Donovan thing and offering their job to SVG and the Kings didn't seem to be involved at all, at least not publicly.

Now it appears that the Kings are not interested in Porter, it makes you wonder what we've been waiting for...hopefully not PJ.

The bottom line here is that I would argue that Rambis is going to be the coach here regardless of how many other interviews are done. That being the case the Kings can do one of two things. First, they can wait for SVG to be announced as Orlando's new coach and then make the move for Rambis making it look as if SVG was their first choice. Or, they can make the Rambis move right now before Orlando officially announces SVG and make it appear as if Rambis was the first choice all along (which might be the case). I think it should be the latter, the fans here are tired of the Kings always getting the short end of the stick, they need to be more proactive. Announce that Kurt Rambis will be the coach here and let's move on to those Bibby/Artest trades.

Um, why? There are two coaching jobs left, us and Seattle. With Seattle being a complete disaster (even though they have the #2), we're pretty much the only game in town. If Van Gundy chose the Magic over us, Petrie and the Maloofs can take their sweet time.

Sure, they can take their sweet time if they want to, but they've had plenty already. I'm glad Petrie isn't my doctor...I'm not saying I want impulsive moves to be made, but I do want a front office that isn't afraid to make the tough decisions and not procrastinate.

Also, public relations regarding the Kings hasn't been real good around here for awhile and I think this throws more fuel on the fire. Other teams are getting their guys...who is our guy? And not to say the Billy Donovan situation will repeat itself but we also thought once he signed with Orlando that we could take our time, that didn't work out so well.

My point is that the Kings need to make a commitment. Every other team has a guy in mind that they hope to get, we just seem to interview a ton of people and whoever sounds the best we go with, it's their version of American Idol. I'd rather be the team with a coach in mind and go out and get him. For example, we interview offensive coaches and defensive coaches and everywhere in between. It makes me afraid that once again we have no plan, what kind of team are we? Pick the plan then pick the coach, that's why Adelman worked so well.

Adelman was hired in an extremely similar situation to this one, where there was a huge group of interviewees (Carlisle, Silas, Rambis Skiles, etc.), and then Adelman was added to the list at the last minute, sort of like how Porter might be. It's not like Adelman was always considered the front runner and was hired the day the offseason ended.

Look, we missed out on our guy, but every rumor has it that the Kings' job was SVG's if he wanted it. He didn't want it. Now it's time for Plan B. But I'd much rather see due dillegence than do something like hire Jim O'Brien just to say you hired someone.

I think you're just a little overanxious. This decision could have ramifications for years to come and I have no problem with Petrie doing everything he needs to do to make sure the right person is selected this time.

I will agree with the Jim O'Brien thing, I don't what they're doing over there. But who is left for us besides Rambis, he is the most qualified of the current group. I just figure if that's the move that's going to be made anyway then it's better to get it done sooner than later.
