The Game Thread Dude
The Kings have historically fared awful in early matinee games this season (including a blowout loss in Dallas earlier in the year) but the Mavs might also be sitting Luka and I don't think we've seen this particular collection of Kings players play an early game yet.

Quite simply, the Kings stealing a win here very much keeps them alive in the play-in hunt and one game back in the win column from the Pelicans and the Lakers. The tank remains postponed.

It seems that maybe the issue with these early games, is that they always seem to be playing a team from back east, who are used to a time that is 2-3 hours further ahead.

This is the only excuse I can come up with

With Luka out, I’d honestly favor our chances of winning. With the Lakers collapsing, I wouldn’t say we’re out of the play-in race quite yet. We can’t let Brunson go off like he did against us back in Sacramento the first time we played the Mavs at home. He was feasting that night.

Honestly, don't think this game matters much in the grand scheme. We get the Knicks at home but after that:

Nuggets @home
Jazz on road
Bulls @ home
Bucks @home
Celtics @home
Suns @home
Pacers on road
Magic on road
Heat on road
Rockets on road
Rockets on road
Warriors @home
Pelicans @home
Clippers on road
Suns on road

Just a brutal remaining home schedule and any easy teams are all road games. I'd be extremely impressed if the Kings could rifle off 7 or 8 wins in this stretch. 4-5 is more likely.

If we do manage to go .500 down the stretch, all the tanking talk would have been really dumb because this team would have really been too good to tank and if we lose anyways, it'd achieve the same purpose as tanking without bruising egos/potentially damaging relationships with the guy we just traded for.
