Happy Halloween!!!

Welcome, fellow Kings fan, to my first regular season play-by-play for 2008-2009.

It's been a damp day here in the forest, which is a very good thing. Fire season is finally over for 2008, which couldn't happen too soon. Now if we can just get enough rain - and snow - to help fill up all the empty reservoirs, life will be good.

Our Kings traveled to Florida and will face Miami tonight and Orlando tomorrow. At least it's not the Texas two-step, right?

I've got my garlic chowder cooking on the stove, fresh coffee brewing and a warm fire going in the old woodstove so I'm all set for tonight's game.

We've got piksi's game discussion thread going and he's already in mid-season form, proving that - for piksi, at least - pre-season just might be over-rated.

Bricklayer will be posting his grades some time after the game, along with a new feature - a "player of the game" poll. Make sure you vote to have your opinion heard.

Garcia, on the other hand, isn't in uniform so it appears his hopes aren't going to be brought to fruition quite yet.

Kings ball, turnover. Chalmers inside, Hawes ties it up. Jump ball.

Beasley miss, Haslem tip in finally puts a score up.

Hawes nice dish inside to Moore, but Kings are called for three-second violation. I blinked and missed it. Heat get the ball back again...

Chalmer pass, intended for Wade, but Martin knocks it oob. Heat inbound, Wade for two and the +1. Miss from the line...

Kings with ANOTHER turnover. Marion drives inside, Hawes with the block but they call him for the over-the-back foul and Marion heads to the line.

Makes first; misses second. Hawes rebound.

Wade miss; Hawes with another board.

Kings ball.

Good ball movement, Udrih shot blocked into the cheap seats by Wade. Kings to inbound.

Udrih to Haes, half-hook misses. Haslem board.

Good ball movement, Martin smothered by Wade, gets ball back to Hawes who dishes inside to Mikki for two more.

Chalmers three way off; Martin rebound. Kevin to Salmons, miss inside. Rebound knocked oob by Moore. Heat ball.

Heat miss; Hawes knocks the ball hard off the glass and Udrih snags it. Kings ball.

The new Heat coach, BTW, looks about 15.

Udrih with the ball, cuts inside, dishes out to Martin in the corner, shot just won't fall. Heat rebound, on the run, Hawes saves the rebound and Kings have it back.

Heat miss; Hawes rebound. Moore inside, good ball movement - out to Martin, back over to Moore, good spin move by Mikki but Hawes called for basket interference.

Udrih turnover; Marion on the run and two points.

Udrih forces it inside, shot blocked. Heat run down the board. Hawes called for second foul as +1 after another Marion shot. Hawes heads to the bench and THompson comes in.

Marion bonus is good.

Kings have another turnover; and Heat convert again.

Defensive three-second call on the Heat sends Martin to the stripe.

Jason Thompson, by the way, is the first player in the Sacramento Kings era of the franchise, to put up a double-double in his first NBA game.

Livingston has a HUGE knee brace on his left knee...

Kings ball. Miss; loose ball foul on Miami. Kings to inbound.

Williams in for Moore. Bobby Jackson with the ball, deflected oob by Marion. Looked like a foul to me but no call. 3 seconds on the shot clock. Kings inbound. Bobby must not have known the time on the clock and Kings called for 24-second violation... Heat ball.

Looking very ugly under the basket by both teams. Thompson called for the foul. Blount at the line. Misses first; and second. Thompson rebound.

Douby passes up wide open three, dumps it to Salmons who stalls the possession and loses the ball with 2 seconds on the shot clock. Foul on Marion, who heads to the line. Martin back in - Thompson comes out??? Very strange substitution IMHO.

Hehehehe. Marion makes the FT but it's disallowed because Banks was supposed to shoot it.

Douby bounce-pass to Shelden Williams, who has the ball stripped as he goes through traffic. Heat ball.

Bobby Jackson with the steal on the base line. He can't stay inbounds, though, and Heat get the ball right back.

Livingston inside, no lift inside and shot is flat. Kings ball.

Bobby J three rims out. Heat ball at the buzzer doesn't go.

Note: I feel very sorry for Livingston. He has virtually no vertical at all and the quickness he had before the injury is a mere memory. He is not going to be in the league very long at all IMHO...

Livingston called for the offensive foul as Martin takes the charge. Kings ball.

Jackson shot doesn't go, Hawes tips the rebound to Williams for the jam. Basket doesn't count as Shelden heads to the line on a foul that occurred before the bucked.

Douby blows by Wade, but misses the layup. Heat ball but Hawes forces a turnover. Kings give it back on the other end when the alley pass is way too high.

Nice dish inside by Hawes to Williams, but the layup rolls off the rim. Heat ball.

Haslem inside, gets the bucket and Hawes has his third foul.

Udrih in for Douby. Bonus misses. Hawes rebound.

Bobby Jackson pass to Salmons, who drives into traffic, dribbles ball off his own foot and oob. Heat ball again.

Lots of pressure by Heat defense but Kings look completely out of synch...

You know, in passing, it would sure be nice for the Kings to open at home for a change and not have to face a couple of different teams on the road for THEIR home openers...

Our Kings do not have the control necessary to keep "TEAM" play in mind once things start to go bad.
