The up and down season continues as the Kings had their winning streak stopped at 3 games losing in Orlando and falling to 26-29 for the season. Kings flirted with the .500 record again but yet again failed to get past the "second base." We drop to 9-19 on the road and 1-1 on the 5 game road trip with back to back set coming up in Miami and Atlanta. The trip finishes in Dallas and it is safe to assume that we won't hit .500 there. Some of the "experts" are giving us better chances to make the playoffs than win to lottery and since we aren't making the playoffs we are screwed. Since it is really hard these days to look forward much to the rest of this season - I just want to say that we are only a week away from beating the lakers first time this season;).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are playing Heat twice in the next week and I can't stop wondering how someone can be this much lucky They suck, get Wade, get Shaq, win the title the same way that lakers won it in 2002, they start to get hurt, start losing, unload the dead weight for a pretty good player and they are sucking their way into a top lottery pick. So next season they will have Wade, Marion and another future star to go with. With couple good pieces around them - they will contend again soon especially in the Least. Now, some things they are doing smarter than us but how the hell can someone be this lucky ???
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am running out of decent material to write about mostly because I am starting to sound like a parrot here. And game after game I can only write about the same stuff. What else I can say about Mikki and Salmons and Artest and the rest of the team that hasn't been said over and over and over again. Fact is that most of them are probably as good as they will ever be which isn't a good news. In the remaining 27 games 4 will be fun and the rest will be just business as usual. I would start Hawes instead of Mikki and I would play Sheldon and Quincy as much as possible. Salmons and Moore would wave the towel the rest of the season. One because of the attitude and the other because he sucks. That is not going to happen unfortunately because we are after the winning season here. Chances aren't any good that we will get there but we will keep trying.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Since Corliss retired last season we don't have a center left who can at least pretend to be able to stand the ground against anything big in the NBA. Now last night Ron has shown some promise and in the future he could play a decent center somewhere else hopefully. What we have is Brad who is playing great but has no athleticism needed to bother guys like Howard. Mikki could only defend kids of age 10 and below because he could scare them. Hawes is way too green and Sheldon also needs time and some "high heals" to make up for lack of size. We desperately need someone who can at act the part. Last night - at one point - I wished that TFM was still playing for the Kings.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last season Muss asked for 50+ games before he could evaluate the team. We needed much much less to evaluate his work and it was easy. He was clearly unfit to coach an NBA team but he was great with modern technology. Sucks for us. Coach T has coached 55 NBA regular season games and so far I think that he has done a very decent job. His team's record is where it should be talent wise. The team is well prepared and comes to play almost every night. Some things - he is still learning by doing and since we are where we are - it is fine. Obviously, of we looking at the future - he has failed to play kids more and he has and he will continue to have opportunities to do so. Sometimes he is too stubborn but some of it is the lack of experience. What annoys me the most is during the blowouts - towards the end of games - he continues to call timeouts and extend the game into infinity. That is pathetic and seres no purpose. Being down 20 in the last minute and then still fouling and calling timeouts is not necessary. I think that he might end up being a good coach someday but it remains to be see how he coaches a good veteran team or a contender. If he continues to fight hard for that .500 record - it might take a while for him to be in such situation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Losing to Orlando these days is not a tragedy even losing the way we did last night is not a big deal. We don't match up well and if they shoot a decent percentage - we will lose more often than not. Last night - they shot 50% - check mate.Maybe if we would have activated KT and used all 30 fouls available at those position - the game would have been closer since Superman's cryptonite is at the FT line. But at the end we couldn't guard anyone and had only 3 players with a good game and Hawes was decent too. We lead the league in turnovers and last night we showed that we won't let any other team take that away from us.

AWARD TIME

Cook wins the TDM despite having stretches where he was his true self. Not the first time he lit up the Kings and won't be the last time either.
LW-VC went to Nelson who could have easily won the RA&1 award too. He was worse than Beno last night and that wasn't easy.
RA&1 goes to Foyle. He is just awful out there.
JHA went to Salmons again sharing it with Udrih for the night
Mikki in dominating fashion went on to win the SAR - Methuselah award.
WTF moment of the game. There were many to pick between the timeouts at the end or Dickie B's decisions or our play but I am going to chose the turnoround jumper that Mikki tries in the first half. I don't know who told him that he can do that but that would have been funny if he wasn't wearing Kings uniform
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Heat are next and they are awesomely brutal this season. They lost 26 of their last 27 games and 11 straight. That is not good news for us since they have theory of big numbers on their side. In fact out of their 29 opponents only Clips did not beat them and we didn't play them yet. Clipps still have a game in Miami to change that and we get 2 shots at it. It would suck if we lose both which we are perfectly capable of, because this is not the way to hgo in the history books and surely one never wants to be in exclusive company of the Clippers - ever. Our biggest opponent for tomorrow's game is South Beach and the "curfew." While we haven't beaten Heat since Shaq got there - we match up really well with them and should be able to beat them but if the guys have too much fun tonight and don't play 100% tomorrow - we will be in trouble. Every streak ends and I am okay with that if it doesn't happen tomorrow.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beno - take care of the damn ball
Kevin - the game has 2 halfs
Brad - a 20/20 please !
Mikki - hard to watch
Ron - Is Wade next ?

Cisco - cooled down a bit
Salmons - booooooooooooooo
Hawes - nice
QD - more PT
Landlord - also

rest - mateen

Coach T - stop prolonging the suffering
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Heat @ 9-44 and 5-22 at home lead by the master of tanking P.R. on their way to another superstar player still have Wade and Marion that can cause trouble. JWill is there too. They are as bad as they come and it is planed. TDM will go to Blount. Davis will win the LW-VC. Kings have got to win this one - please !

Power outages are cascading through many parts of South Florida, with Florida Power & Light and others reporting blackouts in portions of Miami, Doral, Westchester, Pembroke Pines, Miramar and Boca Raton...

... The service failures came during an unusually warm February day in South Florida, with temperatures reaching near-record highs. At 1 p.m, Miami and West Palm Beach reported a reading of 84 degrees; it was 83 degrees in Fort Lauderdale.

Some air conditioning companies reported summer-like levels of service calls.
Somehow, I just can't seem to dredge up too much sympathy for people whining about a power outage when the temperate is 83 degrees.

i suspect you'd change your tune if you knew that there was a person in south beach who needed the internet to do a PBP for the three loyal heat fans in the country.:p

Apparently, there's some big thunderstorms and even a tornado or two in the area. CNN say's over 4.5 million are without power and no one yet knows the source of the problem or when power will be restored.

Having been in South Florida numerous times it's no fun during this kind of stress from storms, power outages, etc. Lots of shootings, robberies, general anarchy tends to rule after dark. I would assume the Heat-Kings game will get canceled if power is not restored in a couple of hours - even assuming American Airlines Arena has operating generator. They might be smart to just pack up now and go to Miami Int'l airport and wait for word.

Miami Heat have lost 11 straight and are NBA horrible worst 9-44. Odds makers favor Kings by 1.5 tonight - IF game is not canceled due to the massive power outage.

By 3 p.m., 92 percent of the lights were functioning -- as power was restored one intersection, one neighborhood at a time, though far more quickly than after Hurricane Wilma left nearly the entire region without electricity in 2005.

The utility said it hoped to have most customers back in service by 5 p.m. "Everyone should be back up within two hours," Mayco VillafaƱa, an FPL spokesman, said at 3 p.m.

State officials said they believed that a major transmission line failed in South Florida, possibly near Alligator Alley and U.S. 27 in Broward County, triggering rolling blackouts throughout the state.

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez said at 3 p.m. that there was no sign that "criminal activity'' was involved in the power failure. He attributed it to a "procedural'' issue at FPL.

It's way better in a cold climate

Somehow, I just can't seem to dredge up too much sympathy for people whining about a power outage when the temperate is 83 degrees.

Without power, you can't keep food fresh; with plenty of outside cold/snow, you can keep food fresh without power. Plenty of wood on hand keeps one plenty warm in a well-insulated house. Can't do that in warm climates.

My best friend has plenty of fresh deer meat available to him year-round, for free. All he needs to do is open his living room window, aim his crossbow and get himself a fresh deer that's feeding on the ground. He does an Native-American-style thanksgiving for the sacrificed life of the deer, dresses it, then hangs it in a cellar that he's dug out for cold meats. The deer--no wiser for the better--always return to feed at the same spot, minus a member of their herd. Can't do that in warm climates.

If you read the article, it sounded as though they were the most worried about their air conditioning. I'm sorry if I'm incredibly shallow but air conditioning problems in February just aren't high on my list of things to empathize about. Much like LA whining about the drought and their inability to fill their swimming pools.

And I'm not impressed with your friend, either. Ever hear of poaching?

Not quite sure.

;)

At least we'll have the game in a few minutes. I hope the team is more excited than I am. For some reason, I haven't been able to work up much enthusiasm for tonight's matchup.
