I've taken the point spread out this year (even though I personally prefer using it) because I believe that most people would rather just pick the winner rather than factor in the spread.

At least you're already aware you'll be second.

I have every intention of winning this year!!!

:p

;)
:D

I've played in dozens of fantasy leagues and games and haven't won anything in almost ten years despite coming close several times (damn you Bricklayer). I'm trying to keep my expectations in check.

Even though I don't actually watch football anymore, I will play so you will have someone to bring up last place.
:p

Ah A good showing so far. Glad to see you all.

I'm the king (no pun intended) of winning with the spread. I do recall uolj putting on a good fight last year. Not sure how I do without the spread.

I'm in. I started off really strong last year and tapered off towards the middle. It gets tough, especially mid season. I hope not having the spread improves my chances. Good luck everyone.

Thanks to all that have joined.. we have room for more still. It's easy.

The list so far..

Took a screen shot. I'm lazy that way. :p

Come on in, folks. The water's fine. Always room for some more. It's just "pick winners" this year with no point spread...

Joined! :D

I'm only recently hooked on football so my knowledge is slim. Be gentle.

Maybe I'll take 6th's crown this year. :p

Oh, dagnabbit!!! When was I supposed to get my picks in for week 1? Having just got back online after my move, I totally lost track. Nothing like starting out with a whopping ZERO. <sigh>

Double-K, I'm beating you already. :p

Um, 6th? The NFL season doesn't open until Thursday, Sept. 6. You have until Thursday at 5:25 p.m. (PDT) to get your picks in for the first week. After that, you'll usually have until 9:55 a.m. (PDT) every Sunday to get your picks in for the week, with the exception of Thanksgiving Week and maybe a couple of others...

:p

Hmmmmm! I thought it started tomorrow. See how out of tune I am? When I looked, I thought it was on week 2. :o

Come on, folks. We have 19 participants so far. Good showing, but the more the merrier! You have until Thursday afternoon to sign up without missing any of the games.

I think the commissioner can. Look for something called "commissioner tools"

Anyone can post comments, though. And you, as group commissioner, can post a special Commissioner's Message.

:)

Wooooooooooooo, not sure what happened, but all of a sudden I feel compelled to join this league...;)

I will sign up shortly and try to do so AND make picks before the season starts. I will need some time to overanalyze stuff to make sure I finish behind people who chose by helmet design and colors. ;)

Helmet design and colors? Oh, my dear MBF. That is so 20th century.

The best way to determine winners is to match the mascots - and consider where the game is being played. For example a game between the Dolphins and the Eagles in Miami would clearly favor the Dolphins, as I don't believe Eagles can survive for extended periods under water. A game between the Patriots and the Cowboys would, of course, depend upon the terrain. And a fight between Seahawks and Broncos taking place in the air would clearly give the edge to the Seahawks while if it was held solely on terra firma the wild horses would almost certainly stomp the you-know-what out of their feathered competitors.

See, isn't that much more scientific than colors and helmets?

;)

Mascot analysis....BRILLIANT! ::taking notes, and developing calculus to overanalyze by::

Broncos Seahawks? I think the horseys get some air and their ability to get airborne and manuever on the ground trump anything a seahawk does. Shoot, the Seahawks may never win a game this season, eagles can kick their butts, I think a raven can take them, Bears Panthers, Lions and Bengals - higher on the food chain. Cowboys, Patriots and Packers (I assume) have guns...Buccaneers have cannons. They might beat the color brown/dearly departed coach. Cardinals and goldminers? I'll need to think on that. Goldminers have sourdough rounds advantage, which will either distract the seahawk with crumblies while they sneak across the goal line or can be used to smack it in midair. So yes, terrain can definitely factor in...

Man...I need CHARTS and lots of them to go through all the permutations! I'll have to wing in for week 1, but as soon as I've got my color coded charts done...IT'S ON!!
