That sucked !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings continue with their consistent inconsistency by losing some and winnings some and so on. After winning 5 of 6 games, Kings lost 3 straight before starting the mini winning streak by sweeping the back to back set last night by beating the mighty Hawks (more like chickens or other birds who can't fly). Kings are 25-28 getting closer to the .500 record the self proclaimed goal that our coach has and if achieved we should build him a statue in front of - well ... Overall Kings are still in the same spot going in the same direction or simply put - NOWHERE! now 5 game road trip is coming up and Kings will look to - I am not sure what the goal is - but to win as many games as possible - I guess.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings are 5-4 in February and 5 games are left in 9 days all on the road, 4 of them in the Least and the final one in Dallas. After that trip we will only have 2 more games left vs. Least and both of them are at home. We start the trip in Charlotte where we haven't done too great since they came to the NBA. Still a winnable game. 2 days later we go to Orlando to meet a Superman and since we beat them at ARCO - they will be looking for blood and that will be difficult for us to win. Another 2 days after we go to Miami where everyone else has won which is a bad sign for us. Heat suck but they do have that theory of big numbers working for them and we haven't beaten Heat since Shaq went there. But then again - Shaq is gone. Next day we play back to back in Atlanta and as bad as they suck we might be tired by then. We finish in Dallas where we will lose as we usually do especially since we beat them at ARCO about a moth ago. 2-3 record is okay, 3-2 possible, everything else is a miracle
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another trade deadline passed and it again - it didn't go the way we wanted it. We still rent'a'Ron for another 29 games, we only have one first round draft pick of mediocre quality, couple 2nd round picks to turn them into Jabari Smith like players. We still have no real cap room and even if we had - which good player would like to play for a team going nowhere with no plan in sight. We waietd again for Godot because - no one else is coming to give ushope let alone rescue us from this vicious circle which is one bad move away from turning us into Knicks of the Western Conference
------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are we exactly playing for in the last 29 games of the season ? Lot's of different things actually. Our coach wants to be .500 big time and a unlikely 42-40 record would give him a satisfaction of being a winning coach in his first NBA season. Thank god - there is no ego involved. Our arguably best player with the lowest sanity index is somewhere in his own world playing for the championship as he is every season in every team he has ever been on. The team is playing to win because anything else is not acceptable and that is a good thing. Also looks like we might use the last 29 games to figure out whether Anthony Johnson can play
, whether Mikki can catch a ball and whether QD can wave a towel, whether Hawes can handle 10 minutes per game, whether Salmos will score in double figures again. Personally, out of 29 games left there are 4 that I am interested in and that matter at least to me. The rest is optional and stress free.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
So Ron is staying for another 29 games and hopefully no more after that. That should be enough time for him to win us a title and probably repeat it 2 more times. He has been playing well and behaving fairly decent if You exclude adolescent stints during games but it will be interesting what happens now considering that he didn't get traded and he won't play past April 15th. Will his drive and motivation suffer. Is he going to rediscover his passion for music and fashion. Will he feed his dogs less or will he do something utterly stupid again ? Whatever it is - I hope that the next 7 weeks mean the end to this saga because it is past time to part ways.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
GP has turned from genius to at least very controversial figure. I never praised him and don't want to criticize him too much because I don't have the details. I don't know whether more could have been done or not, whether waiting is the right thing to do in this case. I do know that in the past 2+ season Sacramento Kings as a final product offered to the people - sucked and disappointed - at least me. How much is his role I don't know but I also don't really care. I always assumed that if You want something to happen - You have to actively help Your cause. Maybe there is a scenario where You can actively sit next to the phone hoping that it will ring and the voice on the other side will tell You what You want to hear. Like a girl waiting for a boy to call or other way around if You will. I do have hope that there is still enough sanity left in that organization to avoid giving Ron a new contract in the summer. Letting him go for free is much worse than the "supposedly" offered deal that we had on the table but it is much better than having the loser be the face of the franchise any longer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To beat Hawks - You need one good quarter and we waited till the last one because mentally our guys won that game before the tip off. The way Mike Bibby was welcomed one again showed the class f the best part of the whole Kings experience - the fans. Mike did pretty well too but it is obvious that he will have to go somewhere else to compete for anything more that being better than Knicks. We didn't play a great game especially on defense or whatever You call the situation in the game where we don't have the ball. We took care of the ball better than them, we rebounded better and we hit a lot of threes. Hawks hung around and we found another gear to finish them of at the end.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME
Childress won the TDM playing a pretty good game but it didn't matter at the end
J. Smith gets the LW-VC award as another of Ron's victims
A. Johnson gets the SAR & Methuselah award and if SAR wasn't faster - Johnson would have his own award.
WTF moment in the game - I have a dilemma betwwen the moment where A.J. was put in the game or just the fact that he was allowed to miss 5 shots before sitting his ancient ... down.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bobcats are next. They have lost 8 of 9 and 7 straight in that stretch. Only team that they have beaten were Hawks for what is worth it. We played them at ARCO about 3 weeks ago and beat them fairly easy. I really thought that they will be better than they are at this point, far away from post season even in the Least. Wallace is struggling back from the injury, they don't have anything consistent of the bench, they turn it over a lot but they do play hard every night and if not taken very seriously they can beat any team and they have proven it. They will also be looking for redemption since they are coming from a loss to the Spurs scoring only 65 points and Spurs held them to less than 20 in each quarter. We won't beat them that way but we have a decent chance if we continue to play together and take care of the ball.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - keep it up
Ron - keep it together
Brad - maybe they will give You a call or two this time
Mikki - should play less
Beno - nice
Cisco - awesome
Hawes - lacks consistence
Salmons - lacks desire
Williams - nice
QD - needs to play
rest - mateen
Coach T - You have to be kidding me - Anthony Johnson
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bobcats 19-25 and 15-16 at home still have minimal chances to get to their first PO in history. It won't happen because they only play well in spurts. Okafor will be big, JRich who did not kill us last time - will try to do better. Wallace has to make up for the awful performance in San Antonio. They shot below 30% as a team. TDM will go to Mohammed, JRich gets the LW-VC award and McInnis defends his RA&1 award that he won last time. I expect a close game here.
