what's the permission "send email to guests without owner's knowledge" about? anyone know what behavior this actually allows in this app?

Does the app come with a calendar? Because it might relate to that. If you input something into the calendar, and somehow you have it set to email friends about putting something into your calendar, it would email the calendar change to your friends automagically.

Seems like 75% of all apps are reading your private info or contact lists or whatever nowadays. I just flat refuse to use any of them under those terms.

Android 4.3 was just released, and it includes a hidden feature to control the specific permissions granted to each app.

to unlock the feature, you need to install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.permissionmanager&hl=en

still, I don't see the specific permission that allows the app to send emails to your contacts. I was able to disable 'Read calendar' and 'Modify calendar', though.
