Although, considering how few minutes Martin played last year, I have to question why you would phrase the question the way you did.

i agree, its too soon. if he still doesn't have any confidence at the end of the year we should be concerned. i hope adelman plays him some more.

The expectations on late 1st/early 2nd round draft picks the last few years have been out of control. Kevin has the physical tools, but he doesn't know how to play the game the right way yet. He could turn into a starter or he could be struggling to find a spot in the league in a few years, or somewhere in between. For a guy picked where he was, who didn't come from a big program and who isn't nationally hyped I don't see how he can be that much of a bust.

If he never really gets any better then I guess he's considered a bust.

You also have to remember that Garcia has a lot more experience than Martin. Martin is the kind of player that will have to develop, and with his athletic skills I think he is worth giving him time. I see him do moves out there on the court that when he learns to finish I think he could be a VERY dynamic player. His defense is also taking shape. Even with his shot out of whack you have to love his D!

Wouldn't make any difference anyway. Kevin is just another part of a busted puzzle. After watching Kings vs Miami last night. Looks to me like Kings are just a bunch of guys who don't have a clue what to do when they get on the floor together...Don't get me wrong we have guys with cajones. But guts alone do not win games. I saw alot of one on one psuedo herocis and very little old time King play. Not much in the way of screen setting, Pick and roll or team play in general. Like I said a busted "TEAM" I will always have fun going to games and in fact even yelled at the clown in front of me when he started booing one of our guys. Im telling you , the team is not to blame for the pee poor play . The problem is with whoever put together this version of Kings.A coach can try to teach them how to play together, but if the collective basketball IQ's are all different from player to player. What can you really do? Wait and hope? Trade. Kevin would not have made a lick of difference. Our team was outplayed by a tightly nitted team. Something we used to have and hopefully will again.
On a lighter note....It was fun watching Shaq clowning around with the guys on the bench and making himself available for autographs after the game.

Which is why, if you have any faith in Geoff Petrie as a GM, you have to believe he has something in mind... Something he's working on that just hasn't come together quite yet.

Either that, or he's lost it.

I'm praying for the former.

I have faith in Petrie VF but its going away at a fast pace. I will keep the faith in him. Rebuilding doesn't happen overnight and takes a few years. I suspect a few years however may be a little to late with the way the Media and Fans are killing the Kings right now.

Look what happened to Gerald Wallace when he left. The way the Kings teams of the past few years have been constituted and the way they play the game, swingman types that rely more on their athleticism than their shooting touch have had a tough time fitting in here. Garcia also has the advantage of having played on a top NCAA team last year, the kind of team where you either play hard all game on both ends of the floor or you don't play. Garcia's skills make him a better fit for this current team, but that doesn't mean Kevin Martin should be cast off. More the problem I think is getting him comfortable enough on the floor that he can keep his head in the game and take advantage of his quickness and jumping ability to get steals and easy points. He's getting there, it's just going to take time. It's also going to take Rick Adelman leaving him in there after he makes some mistakes so that he can redeem himself before returning to the bench.
