Keon Ellis watch 2026

Good for him. Hope with Harden he isn't frozen out. Situation went from promising to uh-oh with that move.

[Cleveland Cavaliers official] Cavaliers guard Keon Ellis injured his left index finger in Wednesday night's game at Milwaukee. A postgame examination by the Cavaliers’ medical staff, followed by X-rays taken at the arena, confirmed a non-displaced volar plate avulsion of his left index PIP joint.

Ellis will undergo treatment and continued evaluation and listed as QUESTIONABLE tonight at Detroit. His status will be provided as appropriate.

I know he has had a finger injury since joining the Cavs but looking at today’s stats in a loss against the Celtics nothing stands out. In 24 minutes 0 points, 3 rebounds, a steal and a block.
That’s only one game and still a small sample size but any reason to think the Kings really screwed up bad by not investing in him?

Yeah, what he did as a King when he was given consistent substantial playing time with a decent roster. Remember when he was about to be the game 1 starter going into last season? He earned that, but they felt obligated to move Huerter back in front of him at the last minute. Something about "not losing a starting spot, after an injury"

True, he’s been jerked around a lot, lack of consistency hasn’t helped his cause. The Cavs bringing in Harden right after trading for Keon also doesn’t help.
He’s a FA after this season I believe, will be interesting his market.

He played 31 mins tonight and scored 20pts on a 5-8 from deep, for a solid playoff team. Somehow, he wasn't allowed to be a regular rotation player for the Kings. Many of us predicted this, but go figure
It would be something else if he did this consistently on a nightly basis since the trade, but this is only one game out of the thirteen he has played in Cleveland. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves here.

OK, fine, I will give you two more games (3/9 against Philadelphia and 2/25 against Milwaukee), but still, that's only three games out of thirteen.

If we didn't want to pay him and viewed him as a bench contributor for cheap for 3 years that is one thing in its entirety but it sure looks like he can be more than that. I will definitely be interested in how he is viewed once he gets paid like a real NBA player of his ability projects (assuming he gets an MLE level deal at minimum - because if he doesn't, we really screwed up).
