"There is a notion about me that is not accurate at all - I don't know who started it or where it came from - that people can't control me," Martin told Yahoo! Sports. "I don't understand. Have I had my issues like a lot of other people? Yeah. But I'm getting back that people think they can't control me, that if I don't play I'm going to explode, or I can turn a locker room. In 12 years there was not one day where I told one guy to dislike anybody. If you ask guys that I've played with that know me, they know what it is and know I'm about winning basketball games and competing."

"If someone calls me tomorrow, I don't care who it is, whether it's losing or winning at this point," Martin said. "If someone calls me tomorrow and wants me to come in, I'm going. Guys are going down and [teams] are like, 'Well, we are going to stick with what we got.' I'm like, 'Really?' I started questioning myself, 'Am I that bad of guy?'"

What do you guys think? Should we bring him? He is a good defender and shotblocker with a nice jumper. He's competitive and all about winning which could rub off on some of our guys. He would give us a nice 5 big rotation.

interesting. though martin is over-the-hill as an nba player, and oft-injured, i find myself moderately attracted to this idea, at the right price, of course. if martin can still rebound and defend effectively, he might not be a bad pickup for a kings team in need of some additional size...

I would be on board. Who knows - Martin may just be the kind of guy that Cousins needs...

Would be a decent model for Trob to follow as a slightly undersized PF.
Don't really see him getting to much PT though, over Hayes or even a struggling JT.

The source goes on to say that he would play for the veteran minimum. So I think that is more than reasonable :). It sounds like he just wants to stay in the nba anyway he can.

while I like the idea of tough minded defensive vets, fact is if we did that, and if he were actually going to be a worthwhile signing who played, then TRob's minutes might entirely evaporate as a 5th big. Or KMart would be the 5th big and kind of pointless.

I don't see how signing a 5th big, who is also a decent player, for the veteran minimum would be pointless. Most everyone on this forum wants 5 legitimate bigs for injury and foul purposes. Why not get a big that will compete with Robinson and Hayes? The competition should only help those guys.
