"Nets rookie forward Josh Boone underwent arthroscopic surgery yesterday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder and could be out indefinitely. "Josh experienced some discomfort in his shoulder during our recent summer league in Orlando," Nets president Rod Thorn said of Boone, who will be in a sling for two weeks before beginning rehab. "A subsequent MRI revealed the tear, and all parties involved felt that surgery was the most prudent option at this juncture. We expect him to make a full recovery and to be a contributor to the team during the season."

"The Nets are desperate for a big man to bring off the bench. They will officially re-sign Clifford Robinson any day now. They had hoped to wait out the market, but Boone's injury may alter that thinking. The Nets cannot afford to go into camp without more size."
