"Through just over 1/4 of the season, Joerger has had some challenges other than on-court play. By my count 6 different players with issues." - Via Carmichael Dave tweet
Ok I'm officially gonna try to tone down my all out hate for Joerger. However I will not cease to point out in my opinion and others...how responsible he is for more than a little of the turmoil and lack of success the team has had thus far this season.
Ok so as reported by Carmichael Dave we are now up to 6 players that have issues with the Joerger. This is now not just one random isolated bad apple (Affalo).
This is turning into almost an all out revolt by the sound of it. AND WHO CAN BLAME THEM?
Thru all the bad coaches I've never seen a coach jerk around his players as much as Joerger. The Casspi situation was completely inexcusable. Here's one of your best hustle players, who took a discount because he wants to be here, coming off one of his best seasons... Joerger decided banish him completely in favor for guys like Affalo and Barnes... again... Casspi banished for Matt all sorts of issues/choking girls, and cry baby Affalo. Seriously how deflating of a start of the season is that? Go scorched earth with one of your best heart and hustle players. Not to mention best 3pt shooter from last year!
Even with Joerger (FINALLY GETTING IT) and playing Casspi the right about of mins and giving him the role he earned and deserved the damage has been done. Casspi is over Joerger and he will be gone now after this season if he's not traded. Casspi was one of the bright spots on this team and was just crapped on by Joergers makes no sense line ups and rotations.
Garret Temple has out hustled and out preformed going back to the first game of the year, every single potential 2 guard on this team. In fact Temple has basically given everything he had every second of every game no quit and all heart. Yet..... it took multiple injuries to put the most talented and deserving SG into the starting rotation. It wasn't even Joergers choice... he was forced to do it...
Then there's Koufos.... who by the way had one of his best games off the year coming off the bench 1 gm. His other... well it was against MEM (yes the other team playing 2 huge bigs)
There's more than enough evidence to support cousins guarding stretch guys like Ryan Anderson, Markeff Morris, or SF's like Harrison Barnes is setting us up to be too slow and unable to guard the 3 pt line. It also forces on offense Cousins to stand on the 3 pt line and clogs the paint for cousins. People don't even guard Koufos when cousins goes anywhere near the paint.
I was 100% on board with Joerger to start. But it appears he was just a product of a great system that will continue to winning regardless of who the coach is.
This isn't the perfect roster, we have some dysfunctional players. But the fact of the matter is Dave lit some of the fires that are now reaching Inferno status. Due to his inability to adapt, inability to recognize the talents with the players that he has.
This team was fragile to start.... but Dave Joerger has whiffed on every opportunity within his power to help this team succeed.
Also remember when Ty Lawson talked about how the practices were not very good in the beginning? Once again coaching not very good.
IF TY LAWSON THINKS THINGS ARE TOO LAID BACK... COACH YOU HAVE ISSUES
