I just saw something that literally brought tears to my eyes.
The Fighting Irish defeated Navy 42-21. At the end of the game, rather than leaving the field, the entire Irish team, including coaches, etc. walked across the field and stood by Navy as they sang their alma mater.
It's rivalry AND respect that makes college football such a part of my life.
When asked why he did it, Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn replied, "It's about respect. We have a long tradition of rivalry with Navy. We respect them on the field and we respect what they are doing for us every day off the field."
