Is there any truth to the Collison rumor of a trade?

I would think this guy would be one of the last guys we should trade. He seems like a guy who will always show up and do a good job and not be a problem. We need more of these, not less.

It's hard to reply without any information. Providing some source of info, even if with little credibility, would be a start.
So far Vlade has proven to have no inclination on releasing any information, if he can help it, so it's either the other side, or Vlade got interested and involved more people, who then leaked it, in advising on the matter, so talks would seem to be somewhat advanced.

Please do not feel as if I am calling you a liar. I will request however some type of source so that I can look into it and try to find further confirmation of a potential trade.

I assume this is about the Knicks wanting him? That is several days old though, and the Knicks have very little to offer of any interest. Even the grand trade for Melo idea is impractical because his massive contract would require that half the roster would have to be bundled to match salaries.

yes, there is some "truth" to the rumor in that reports indicate the knicks have an interest in darren collison. but just because the knicks want something, it doesn't mean that a rival team is necessarily entertaining those desires. in fact, the opposite has largely been true for the last decade, as the knicks' mismanagement has rendered them laughable trade partners (with the carmelo anthony trade being an exception, though it's not as if that acquisition has panned out well for the knicks). the new york media will always shine a spotlight on any scrap of trade info they can dig up, but again, it has no bearing on whether other gm's around the league are actually taking calls from the knicks. darren collison has utility for the kings, he's on a favorable contract, and the knicks don't have much to trade in return (unless they wanna send porzingis our way). long story short: move along, there's nothing to see here...

There was a time when I thought trading DC for a SG was a good idea. That was predicated on us keeping Rondo; the guarantee we could keep Rondo. As time has evolved, Rondo has lost favor with me as the bang for the buck is nowhere near DC's. DC is consistent and can be a starter, The evolution of Curry has lessened the pressure to keep Rondo. With DC and Curry, we have legitimate starters and bench guys. Of course matchups and game situations could change how they are used. All we need at the pg spot is a minimum wage deep backup.

To the Knicks? I can't imagine so.

But is there reason to trade Collison? Maybe.

If Rondo leaves via free agency then Collison is almost certainly the starting PG so I don't see why he'd be traded unless it was part of a deal for another PG.
If Rondo is re-signed and the Kings draft a PG and/or re-sign Curry then Collison is a nice luxury as a backup PG and 6th man/bench scorer. But if there's value for him that improves the team more then you look at it.
If for some reason Vlade decides to blow up the team and rebuild (trade Cousins, trade Gay, let Rondo walk) then there's an argument for keeping him and an argument for trading him for a younger player or draft pick. I don't see that scenario happening this offseason but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Collison is a decent starting PG and a very good backup PG. He's also on a very affordable contract but with the caveat that he'll be a free agent next year. He's a great sixth man and a pretty good compliment off the bench to Rondo but he also is one of the more tradeable assets on the team.

Whether Collison is dealt depends (1) on whether or not Rondo comes back and (2) what offers are out there for him.

What are you talking about? If you're going to start a new thread about a trade rumor you've heard, you need to post a link to where you saw it.

Since we're already discussing a Collison to the Knicks rumor in the Kings/Knicks thread, I'm closing this one.
