Is Reggie a good choice?

As another poster said before they hired him, the best thing about Reggie Theus - we'll get higher draft picks. I would have preferred any of the other candidates to Reggie. In fact, I'd prefer Musselman over Reggie. They all have significantly greater credentials, and all of them had previously coached in the NBA. Respect factor? Who really thinks any of our players has respect for Theus? I bet a lot of them don't even know who he is. And when he tells them that he won during his two year tenure at New Mexico State, I can see the eyes roll. Pitino liked him I guess. Petrie called him. Is that the best endorsement he can get? I guess Reggie has "the look", which must have appealed the the Vegas duo, but where is the substance? We're definitely back in the dog years. All that has to happen now is for Petrie to forego the "go young" option and get us some retreads and I'll start to feel that warm and fuzzy nostalgic feeling....

A three scale lacks some nuance. On a 5 scale, this is a 2. Not the confirmed godawful 100% disaster, but the deeply suspicious choice almost certainly made for many reasons that had nothing to do wiht his ability to coach NBA basketball.

The lone comfort in this matter has to be that out of the remaining candidates, there may have been no 5s. 4s, 3s, 2's, MAYBE a 1 somewhere. But our closest bet to a 5 skipped town on us, and was never really THAT sure of a thing anyway. Shaw and Porter would likely have been the best remaining bets. But Porter worked for Adelman, and the Maloofs are still attempting to prove that that era was all about them as owners and not that regime's doing. And Shaw...not sure why there wa a lack of enthusiasm there, unless Shaw himself was really more interested in ust sticking it out and eventually landing the super-juicy Lakers gig. In any case, he's clearly going to be an NBA coach one day.

It's clear what the decision-making process was - Can this guy sell tickets? Rambis was the first to go. Reggie the last to stay. GQ wins over earthy in the Maloofs world.

I think I already played that joke out somewhere in the mega-thread. ;)

So...how about Muss? :p

Have him under contract anyway....make him work for his money!

Can Muss be the videotape/doughnut guy?

With Reggie as the coach does this me we are looking to recreate the magic of the 1984 Kings? Wow I hope so. :p

Seriously I think the actual choice of Reggie is a bad one. There are better candidates. Not that I want him to tank I hope he proves me wrong. I just think it will be last year all over again and he won't get any respect from the players.
