Is Burkle Still in the Mix?

This franchise is falling apart. On-court drama is going to kill ticket sales and merchandise sales. We all know the Maloofs are on thin ice financially all ready, if this incident blows up any more or isn't resolved quickly it could be the rock that finally drops them in the drink.

We know from last year that the NBA wants Sacramento and is wary of the Maloofs. We know Kevin Johnson has the pull, support, and strong financial network to get the arena built. We know Ron Burkle and Magic Johnson are waiting in the wings to take over, and we know that they're the type of professional organization that can keep a tidy financial house and run a great operation. We know Magic Johnson would be the ultimate mentor figure to godfather Cousins and get these young guys together. The energy of a new arena and new all-star ownership team could revitalize the cowbells and revive the Spirit of Arco in the new, burial-ground free railyards.

This is a perfect storm. I've always been a big Petrie supporter, one of the most vocal on these boards, but his time has come. The NBA will watch the Kings stumble and put pressure on the Maloofs to cash out. Clean house to move into the new house.

Over/under?

I hope the NBA leans on the Maloofs hard. This team isn't as bad as they are playing and their hires and tight purse atrings are huring us. And, damn, don't anyone tell me that simply spendng money guarantees success.

Please send all letters and emails to NOH General Manager David Stern.

Sterns been doing a lot for us tbh. Keeping the team in SAC for another year, gifting us Marcus Thornton and telling the refs to give us tons of calls/FTAs.

Hoping that he runs the Maloofs out of town.

Methinks Burkle will always be in the wings waiting to pick up the Kings... The issue lies in the fact that our cheapskate, broke, spoiled owners are being petulant about it and refuse to sell even though they're running the franchise into the ground (and possibly to Anehiem).

I'm hoping the Maloofs sell very soon as well. I have a feeling we missed out on Adelman (this last offseason) because the Maloofs still own the team.

Thornton was hardly a gift, that trade was viewed by most as fair. It was simply GP reminding us of what he can do when it comes to young players

I think if the Kings stay in Sacramento, the Maloofs will eventually sell. (Of course, that may be me.) I don't think Stern or other league owners look very favorably on the Maloofs at this point. The league is heavily involved in managing the team right now. They sent out a group of league people to direct the marketing activities here, since the Maloofs were exposed for how badly they were handling it. I'd love to have them sell to Burkle.

It's pretty simple. You should try to hit as many games as possible before 3-1-2011 to keep the good will and buzz going.

If an arena get done, stay home until the Maloofs sell. If you want to speed up the process, call 1140 and say you've reached your breaking point with the owners and are staying home until they sell.

With the Maloofs money and the fact that they tried to move the team and failed, it's a matter of when they sell - not if.

I highly doubt Stern wants this trainwreck to depart to another city. He's well aware of what the Maloofs have told the fans about spending, success this year, and the goals. The Maloofs are the ones who look incapable of reaching their own goals and promises made to the fan base.

Now why in gods name would the league want the Maloofs to drag that into another city? Especially when I wealthier guy in Burkle, has expressed confidence in not only the ability to turn this shipwreck around, but to do it in Sac.
