In history, what has been the hardest trade for you to take??

Inspired by yesterday's transaction, I thought a little reminscing would be in order. In the nearly 20 years of the Kings, what personally has been the saddest trade for you? And why?

For me, it was Jon Barry. I loved his oncourt contributions (especially the 3's!) of course, but it was his off-court contributions especially that drove me to tears upon learning he was traded. He was so dedicated to the fans and this community. And I loved his cheerleader antics on the court!!

This might be it. Vlade chose to accept a better offer. As much as I love Pollard the team got so much better with Brad and we only lost benchplayers for him. Loosing j Will probably added years to life and Bibby was such an up grade I was fine with that move as well. This time we lost a starter who I have had great respect for. I know it's true you have to trade tallent to get tallent, and in a month I may feel this was a brillinat move, but man I willl miss Doug!

This was probably the hardest one to take. It was made easier by the fact that we knew Christie was more likely than the other current players to get traded, and by the fact that the Mobley is a pretty good player.

But I was really rooting for the core of this team to win a championship together, and Christie was a big part of that core. It was only a few months ago that he single-handedly gave the Kings a chance in game 7 against the Wolves. The way he played defense on Cassell at the end of the game, diving for the ball and doing anything he could to keep the team's hopes alive, I really wanted to him to be there if and when the Kings win a championship.

I'd have to say this was the biggest shock, and the hardest to take. Christie is definitely one of the guys I had an attachment to, but I am looking at all the positives and it soothes the pain.

Now if we are talking the dumbest trade, that was trading Jim Jackson. He had size, aggressiveness, rebounding, defense and he could shooot

Jim Jackson and Vlade weren't actually traded, but losing them from the team was almost as hard as if they had been traded.

Considering I wanted to trade Doug for a draft pick in the offseason I would have to say that I am not dissapointed about this trade one bit.

Hardest trade for me was when the Kings traded Billy Owens to GS for Mitch Richmond. I lived in the bay area at the time and was a huge Warriors fan so I was sad to see Mitch go.

This trade with Christie was real hard, yeah I do want him to win a championship with the kings, I wanted him to retire with the Kings, guess that not gonna happen :(

Although I have never been the biggest fan of DC, I would have to say this trade - only because this is the first move that the Kings have made that ships out one of the core players that has helped the Kings get to where they are today and replaces him with another player. Remember, the Kings offered Vlade a contract, but he opted to go with the Lakers instead. JWill was traded, but that was before the current run atop the NBA. When JWill was traded the Kings were seen as a team on the up and up, much like Denver before this season. And I don't consider Pollard and Hedo to have been core guys who put the Kings on the map although they did contribute. I keep thinking back to the SI cover with JWill, Webber, Peja, Vlade and DC on it with the slogan "Greatest show on court." It's sad to see that there are only three of those guys left on the Kings: One of them left (Vlade) on his own and DC is now gone because management thought that the team would be better without him. For those reasons this is the hardest trade to come to grips with...although I think that this trade was the right move and the Kings will be a better team with Cat then they were with DC.

peja for artest..... wait nevermind.

if it werent for the bad 3 balls and bibby's clutch shooting.... jwill. the boy got game.... maybe hedo.... but i like brad. wallace wasnt traded but he would be getting so many more minutes right now and we'd have the most athletic yet under used bench in the nba. but this was big...... or maybe keon.... lol, wait... hell no.

The Christie trade ranks with me as number 2. I love Doug's game and personality, but it very quickly makes sense. We get 1/2 year of the Cat then a bunch of cap space (which is desperately needed if we plan on keeping Peja). Doug's game is not exactly declining in my opinion, he still has the potential to do a lot of the things that make him great, but he is becoming more inconsistant as time goes on. Further, no more Jackie Christie; I always saw her as a distraction and a sort of mild black-eye for the Kings.

The hardest trade for me was the Pollard, Hedo, B-52 trade. Though, once the season started, everything was great. B-52 is now one of my favorite players, but over that summer, I was confused and disturbed. All I really knew about the trade was that one of my fav guys (Hedo) and one guy I like some of the time (Pollard) are gone and we got a guy who was an All-Star by default and got into a fight with Shaq one time (and very nearly got killed). That was a hard summer. But once the season started, I was back to my old level of Kings-love.

The Christie trade is taking place mid-season, so there is less wondering, less speculation on the results. I just fear the trades in the future... when guys like Darius, Bibby, B-52, and Peja finally get traded or move on... one thing is for certain, unless they retire early, they will be moving on to some other team at some point in their career.

I would have to say this one, for many of the reasons others have already stated, but also because it came as such a shock. In the off season, I expect moves to be made, and am, of course, saddened by the departure of favorite Kings, but am more prepared for it. That's what off seasons are for. Once the ball gets thrown up in that first game of the season, it's always been (under Petrie) that these are our boys for the season. It's more of an adjustment.

Barry, simply because there was no one new who came and won me over. I wanted Miller here all along, and was always a Bibby fan too. For some reason I've thought we could use Mobley, and here he is, but it's tough losing Doug. That said, Barry takes the cake.

This one is, without a doubt, the toughest for me to deal with. GP simply DOESN'T do mid-season trades and this one totally floored me. And, for that reason, although it's been the toughest to deal with it's one I have a lot of faith in - simply because I know GP would not have pulled the trigger on the deal unless he was VERY certain it was the right thing to do.

Vlade wasn't a trade.

We didn't trade Jim Jackson.

This one, but then again I havent been a kings fan long enough to really remember any other ones, besides the miller one which I liked.

Probably the thread should be expanded to be hardest "move" rather than just trades, to include letting Vlade and JJ walk, exposing Gerald Wallace, etc.

For me, i was surprised to see the Pollard-Hedo-Brad move as well because I thought that Hedo was a core member of the team, but I was a green Kings fan at the time and felt that it was worth it to get Brad Miller. This move (Mobeley for Christie) is a lot more shocking and I feel sadder about it than before, but there's no denying that the potential upside is a lot greater than the potential downside.

The hardest move for me is still the one where they let JJ walk and not even make him an offer. I never heard a good reason for that one.

Mitch leaving for webber, i knew it was a good trade for our team but i just hated to see Mitch go. He was with us fighting for so long i just wish we could have got a championship with him. I was a huge fan of his for so long.
