it is not a matter of who you had in the past. it is a matter of how this place was perceived as a team with no playing time reserved for young players which unfortunately it was. not all young players are saviors; heck only a few of them really are. but constantly getting older with no future plans was a recipe for disaster, and here we are.

(thanks, i am always around actually. mostly reading. some very troubling waters here in turkey make my life much harder than i anticipated but i am not quitting. )

I'll admit I severely underestimated the Hornets, they might actually give us a few fits on a better night. With the emotional drive they had, our inexperience, the bad shooting on our part, bizarre officiating and an even worse travel schedule (what was with that anyway? why?) I could have reasoned out a 10-15 point loss.

Of course...we all know that's not what happened. I'm not jumping off the wagon but I reserve the right to be embaressed by my team, and tonight was genuinely embaressing. No excuse boys, that was terrible.

Rather the Kings were Inexperienced or had Chemistry issues there is no excuse to lose to a team like the Hornets. we're bound to do some damage this Season Hornets are bound to get to the Lottery; this is not how you want your team to start the season specialy when you get blown out by a team who's not expected to win no more then 20-25 games you cant have any excuses when Hornets are just as bad as any team in the League.

This loss could haunt us all season long hopefully it doesnt but this loss was embaressing.

Obviously, some people aren't grasping how bad the Hornets are. Play some fantasy basketball. Nothing like drafting for your own self-interest to give you an idea of how talent is stacked for teams.

The top player for the hornets right now goes in the 10th round. Only the rookie, Chris Paul, has gone sooner based entirely on "potential" and the penchant for high risk by some fantasy types. On the other hand, the 3 (often) undrafted Hornets have outplayed the 3 Kings that all went well ahead of the 10th round. In terms of talent, NOK is indeed at the bottom of the barrel. There is absolutely no team worse. The margin in chemistry between them and all other teams is going to have to be like a freakin' gulf to make up the difference. Playoffs? Laughable. They'll be lucky to reach 2nd-to-last. I honestly don't see a team they'll be ahead of. Raptors, Cats, and Hawks are all significantly better.

This is really not about the fact that we lost, to whom we lost, or even by how much we lost. It is about HOW we lost. That is the real issue.

I am a fan that has been around long enough to not get insane over each loss. Yes, I get upset, mad, sad, etc, but I do not jump. Last night was different.

For the first time in YEARS I did not even recognize my team. I try not to mention players that are no longer on the team. I was saddened by the loss of ALL of them last season, but understood on the "grand scheme of things" why they were gone. However, the intangables were VERY absent last night.

I BELIEVE that we can correct the problems. It will take time. Probably too much time, but it can be fixed. The TEAM has to be the focus, not individuals. As a fan, I need to focus on the same. It is easy foe me to say that player A stinks or player B needs to step up and all that may be totally true. I just think that our issues are deeper than any one player. It is on them all. TOP to BOTTOM.

Stop it will all of the shiney trappings and get back to KINGS' BASKETBALL.

Last night, I MISSED MY TEAM.

They WILL do better tonight.

Pretty bad - especially since one of the two starters was the best player on the floor.

The problem for us started with the wholesale removal of our starters. RA left it like that for a GIANT run by the Hornets. We never recovered.

the hornets will not make the playoffs...they very well could finish the year with the worst record in the nba...

its not the end of the world, losing to the hornets....it happens in this league quite a bit, when a team obviously underestimates another team and thinks by simply showing up they will win....it never works that way...the kings arent good enuff to mail it in and expect a win over anyone and the hornet game proves that....the fact that they lost so badly is a bit disconcerting, though somewhat irrelevant....

i recently picked the kings to get the 6th seed in the west in some playoff predictions...and i think they could still do that...it was only one game...but i also got bashed quite a bit on here a couple of months ago for saying that this team could very well finish with a win total in the thirties....i think that is still possible also....

the key will be how they weather this tough start....this team has to form an identity....theyre gonna be faced with adversity right off the bat....and how they respond will be telltale to how the rest of the season turns out....every team faces adversity...the good teams rally around it and move forward...lets hope thats what the kings do....the alternative is not pleasant....

I mentioned yesterday somewhere else that I wouldn't at all be surprised to see the Kings start off the season the way that the Houston Rockets started off their season last year...they had a few new key faces who had to adjust to a totally different systime and philosophy and then they add to deal with the addition and subtraction of some of their players...it took them about 2-2 1/2 months to get that figured out and once they did they were amazing...I hope with the Kings it doesn't take them as long but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if it did...

i know some of you have been here during the team's darker days. i would have an ulcer having to stomach losing records. let's hope this is not the season i start getting ulcers.

If that's the case, then perhaps you need to see a doctor and find out why a team's loss would cause you so much distress that you would get ulcers.

Why is everyone being so negative. This was the first game of the year not game 7 of the finals. They lost because they only shot 30% for the game and were playing sluggish. The hornets played well. On a positive note, the Kings did only allow the hornets to score 93 points. Their defense especially from Brad looked better at times. If anything this could be th a*s kicking they need to get them in to shape. And I for one guarantee a victory tonight.

It would shock me a little if we won this game. Two months from now should be a different story entirely, but I just hope if they do win that they don't let it go to their heads because they still have a LOT of work ahead of them.

As much as people don't like excuses, it is pretty likely that the Kings do have excuses for how poorly they played, and it won't happen like this very often.

They showed great energy and effort on defense in the first quarter, and did pretty well on that end overall. That was encouraging. I don't expect them to be good defenders, but I like it when it is obvious that they are specifically putting extra effort in on defense.

The shooting was horrible, and a few more made baskets would have made it a bad loss instead of a terrible one. Adelman's task is to get the offensive scheme to fit these players, and to get the players to follow through. They seem willing, just not yet able. The Kings offense doesn't appear to be habit yet for any of the new guys, and so when things get a little tough, they seemed lost. I still expect them to be much better on offense than defense, but that might take awhile to show up.

If they can't beat New Orleans in one game, it doesn't mean much. It just makes me think that the team will be inconsistent throughout the year. We're in for a few more stinkers a long the way, but there should be plenty of wins, too.

(I won't be able to see the Rockets game, so I figured I'd get in my analysis before it so I don't look too stupid. )
