by going back to their old tv deal right? i know they signed something but if they really wanted to prevent the kings they could get out of that deal somehow since thats the main reason maloofs are moving there right? because of the chance this new tv deal gave them?

The TV deal is only one factor (albiet a big one). And no, the Lakers already signed a 3 billion deal to establish their own network, one which was a key venture from Buss in order to facilitate the transition of ownership of the team to his children and move the team forward. They aren't going back on anything.

Besides, from what I understand, and I could be wrong, the Lakers and Clippers have the power to refuse having a third team in their market, so they don't really need to sacrifice their new TV deal to stop the Kings, if they wanted to. The problem is that owners will not stand in the way of other owners' wishes in these matters, in case they need their support in the future.

I really, really, really want my Kings to stay in Sac-town BUT if the Kings have to move to Anaheim and hurt the Lakers in any way good for the Kings. I hear the Lakers' ownership is pissed (and worried) about the news that the Kings may head to Anaheim. The Clippers should be even more worried. The Maloofs would be FORCED to put a good team on the court. With all of that money they have to spend they WILL be able to build a competitive team and a winner to gain market share. You will see a whole different culture and attitude by the Maloof organization. Sterling would have to get off his arse and start spending money; something he hasn't done and something he would hate to do. He's making money just the way things are. Nice and easy. All power to the Kings to shake some things!!!! Its a given that these two garbage organizations will vote NO and maybe Dallas, N.Y., and Chicago. I bet the Lakers are on the phone trying to persuade the other teams and the Association officials to not allow the move. Queens, huh??? Paybacks are a *itch!

Everything I've read says the Lakers and Clippers have no veto power. They only get to vote along with all the other owners whether or not to approve the move. I don't know if Buss or Sterling have enough sway or other leverage to convince the other owners to vote against the move (ok, I know Sterling doesn't). I guess one item in our favor is having 3 NBA teams in the same market seems unprecedented.

Sad that it looks like it is coming down to either the deal falling apart with Orange County, or to rely on Buss.

They potentially could a few years down the road. if The Lakers go into rebuild mode after Kobe retires and The Kings are good at that time, surely they'll attract many bandwagon fans.

...if the Kings move to Anaheim, it is good for the Lakers because it will be additional "home" games for the Lakers....there will be more Lakers fans whether it is played at the Staples Center or the Honda Center. so, i think it is good for the Lakers.

Ok, but how about all those Laker fans that become Anaheim fans? The Lakers will be losing money, because people will be driving 5 minutes to Anaheim games rather than 45 to Staples, and not to mention tons of people now spending money on Anaheim merchandise rather than Lakers mercandise... Im just sayin, ive seen all over the internet, a lot of Anaheim Laker fans are ready to become "Kings fans" if they do end up there, i dont think this move would benefit the Lakers at all.
