Ideal trading partners- POR & NY?

Okay, so I'm bored at work and was doing some thinking. Portland is sitting on the first pick in the draft, and has their pick of either Durant (most project he'll go there) or Oden. Assuming they pick Durant to play SF, and that they give him the money one can expect, what do you lot think of this prospective deal?

POR GETS:

C Brad Miller
PF Kenny Thomas
PG Quincy Douby

SAC GETS:

C Joel Przybilla
SF Darius Miles
PG Dan Dickau
SG Martell Webster

WHY POR DOES IT:
They get rid of horrid contracts to Miles and Przybilla, who also adds to the glut of Centers they have. Miller doesn't help in that regard, but he does provide a veteran presence and interior passing- something they lack. Thomas is there simply for depth and the expiring, and can be there for no other reason than that we're taking on Miles.

WHY SAC DOES IT:
The Kings gain depth at nearly every position, and get a young center they desperately need, as well as cover at SF and SG in Webster. While taking Miles is always a precarious proposal, the thinking here is
that he'll get lost in his starting role and not have time to be a problem. Dickau provides vet coverage for Bibby, and Webster is the casualty of the Blazers bringing back Outlaw and keeping Roy at SG. Here he can add depth and flexibility, as well as bench scoring- a dire need.

Add this deal to the above:

NY GETS:
SF Ron Artest

SAC GETS:
PF Malik Rose (ETO option)

And the team is this:

C- Przybilla
PF- Abdur-Rahim
SF- Miles
PG- Bibby
SG- Martin
--------
6- Salmons, SF
7- Webster, SG
8- Thornton/Wright/Jianlian, PF
9- Williams, C
10- Garcia, SG
11- Rose, PF
12- Dickau, PG

Younger, tougher, and more dynamic. Also a little more volatile, but hey, what's that after what we've seen before, right? And one big deal with one minor, a solid draft, and some expirings. No major overhaul needed....

PORTLAND LINE-UP:

C- Aldridge/Miller/LaFrentz
PF- Randolph/Thomas/La Frentz
SF- Durant/Outlaw/Udoka
PG- Jack/Rodriguez/Douby
SG- Roy/Roy/Roy

Thoughts?

Artest has better value then that. We might as well keep him and let him walk at the end of the contract if Malik Rose is what we are getting for him.

WTF?
Ron Artest for Malik Rose would be the absolute worst trade EVER!

This is ridiculous, I don't care what kind of problems he has off the court.

The teams (Portland and NY) might be right, but the players are completely wrong. Get a third team in the mix and ship out Bibby and get Randolph from Portland and then perhaps pull something off with NY for Artest.

Perhaps. Okay, so if they're the wrong players from the right teams, who fits better?

If we get more than expiring crap for Artest I'll be shocked. Just being honest.

If we trade Ron Artest - who is likely to opt out of his (reasonable) contract next year - for nothing more than expiring crap, I'll be shocked. Ron's contract is basically an expiring contract, and bad locker room influence and PR hit that he is, he's a good player. If we aren't going to get a decent draft pick or a desirable player, we should keep him.

seriously bad trades. i don't see the point in these trades other than shuffling cards around. btw, portland is going to pick oden for sure. you don't pass on a big man like him.

Who is most? There will be rioting on the streets here if they don't pick Oden.

Not fond of the trade ideas either but I lost my concentration after reading the first sentence.

I would want no part of Pryz, Miles or Dickau. Webster sure, but I doubt that Portland is going to get rid of him. He can shoot and with Oden in the mix you need someone to hit some shots. Artest for Rose would be horrible. Crawford and Frye from NY would be better although not great, but better than Rose.

I wouldn't really want any of NYs' or Portlands' junk. There would have to be a third team o get us something we are wanting, but than that third team would be the one to take NYs' junk so I can't see trades with either two happening w/ Sac involved.

Those salaries (Frye plus Crawford) don't match. I don't know where people keep dreaming up that deal. Unless Douby is added, it won't work. And then, what do we do with a glut of Thomas, SAR, Williams, and Frye at PF? As well as the contest between Martin and Crawford at SG? I'm confused...

I am not treating the deals I proposed as "end alls", they were just fodder. I still hope we can get more for Ron Ron, but I'm not holding my breath. And if we get any more than that for Miller or Pouty, I'll be delighted. None of these are perfect world scenarios, but I was at least looking to find teams that could yield younger players with upside, or expirings to build from.
