the lakers are a non playoff team but their on ESPN more than Sportscenter? i missed the game today and wanted to watch the highlights and i must have seen the lakers highlights 4 times and i still havent seen the kings highlights............

Good. Let them keep showing the Lakers. Let the Kings slide under the radar ... I have no problem with that at all.

the Lakers are the NBA's royalty...we will never not hear anything about the Lakers...and their recent skid...and them not making the POs have become instant juice...

i personally don't care if they show the kings highlights or not...they WILL show the highlights...but it will be in a quick highlight package with a few other games...i use to watch sportscenter a lot...but now i absolutely cannot stand it...i usually just NBATV for highlights and the comings and goings of the NBA...when i want to know about other sports news i usually watch PTI...lol...this keeps me in the loop...or a quick 30 min ESPNEWS show...they don't go to the lengths that Sportscenter does to pee people off...with the same ol story....

Answer's obvious. They want to make sure to get it out there that Kobe is going to miss the playoffs and they can throw it to the Legler/Anthony crew so they can talk about how this is what he wanted, etc.

Plus, in general, BSPN shows more fluff and controversy than highlights now. That wasn't the case in the early 90s, but it changed. Did you catch yesterday's show? They had a 2-min skit with David Duvall (golfer) tinkering around at a mini golf course with a plastic kiddie club making jokes like, "It's not mini golf...I like to think of it as less big golf." I'm wondering to myself, where are the highlights?

I think you just figured it out. Get NBA TV.

I agree with Gargy. SportsCenter is nothing like it used to be, and it use to be one of my favorite shows. Now, NBATV is on almost all the time, unless there is a game on that I want to see.

MTV and CNN also went away from what put them on the map. SportsCenter is horrible, it's like they're trying to be a sports-related "Daily Show w/ Jon Stewart". BSPNews is closer to how SC used to be.

^yeah i agree...i think its cuz they have only 30 mins to get all the sports news in so they can't really go on a tangent about something that either isn't a big deal or has already been run into the ground

No respect from NBATV either

I sat through an hour of NBATV after last nights game and gave up when I started seeing the same San Antonio stuff over again. It's always East first with them, then the Fakers, then anyone else before Sac. They were broadcasting last nights game w/Dallas and after a ten minute testiment to the Mavs and Dirk, said virtually nothing about the Kings. The only time we seem to get any play is every Thursday when the chief stooge shows how the refs made the correct (BS) call against the Kings. (No, I'm not still bitter!) ;) As for BSPN they are only slightly better than the hacks on TNT. I still watch a lot of NBATV but the lack of respect gets old.

Something that has really gotten on my nerves with SportsCenter recently for whatever reason is their tabloidy teasers. Instead of introducing facts of the day's events at the beginning of the show and before commercial breaks, they're now strictly throwing out silly questions that half the time can't or won't be answered in the broadcast. "Can Barry Bonds overcome his latest setback?" "Why Roy Williams might not be around next year if UNC doesn't make it to the big dance" "And do the Kings have what it takes to reach the NBA Finals?" Well, gee....get some "expert" on who can tell me these answers so I can stop worrying about them! I've gotten quite sick of Top 10 lists too (damn you, Letterman!), and they need to inject a relevant one into nearly every show. When Fox Sports can't come up with anything better than to base an entire show around them, it had "jumped the shark" written all over it.

I don't get ESPNEWS on my cable system, but I enjoy it on the rare times when ESPN or ESPN2 preempts their programming to show it. Light on fluff and sticks to the facts.

Ironically, The Daily Show with John Stewart (on of my fav's) has more news content than Sportscenter has sports new content.

"...and we're back. Did you know that Sportcenter used to devote most of it's time showing sports highlights in the same way that MTV used to show mostly music videos...heh, heh, heh! Those were the days...well stay tuned for Dream Job: the Bachelor edition, coming up next!"

da-da-dah! da-da-dah!

NBA TV is so boring, they always talk about those boring eastern teams all the times. Most of the time its the knicks and nets which makes me want to fall asleep. Then when they do show so West coast teams its almost always San anotonio or LA.And the thing with NBA TV is that its run by the NBA and they never talk bad about any team or anything going on that can hurt the image of the NBA.then in the summer they have that boring rucker park streetball thing which consists of the biggest ball hogs playing no D and wanting to dunk it every time.

ahhhhh.....i feel better now:)

Ha. That's scary. Btw, that reality show "weekly contestant cut" crap has jumped the shark so bad that Henry Winkler is considering a lawsuit.

Because it makes ESPN more money. That's the only reason.
When the man is right the man is right. The problem many people have in understanding American media is they ASSUME that the purpose of News is to report news, the purpose of sports net works is to show and discuss sports. It's not. The pupose of media is to sell advertising, period end of story no discussion necessary. ESPN only show games beceause that is the MEANS for getting viewers who are used to sell ad time. Same is true for any and ALL programing they show what will get the greatest number of viewrs in choice demographics. Heck if a TV network could figgure out a way to have 100% comercials with no programing that wout be the optimum situation and they would jump at it in a heartbeat.

If ESPN didn't run the scores at the bottom, we probably wouldn't even know who won except for the internet. I don't have NBA tv so can't comment on that.
